    New stereo on the way

I have a new to me '06 Wakesetter VLX. I am planning a total revamp of the stock stereo.

    QUESTION:

I have 2 of these in the bow, 2 in the dash, and 2 in the rear cabin area.

In your opinion what would be the best sounding speakers a person can use in the boat. They will be amped just not sure with what yet.

Focal speakers are awesome and in my opinion are worth the money...I switched out my stock kickers and replaced them with focal poly v1's and on the same power the Focal's were way louder and way more clear. That is just my opinion but if I have to replace any speaker Focal is top of my list...

honestly, powered right, those kickers can sound really good even if the do look like crap.

I had them in our 06 bu too.

The secret was a TON of power.... I was running 150w apiece to them. On less power they did not sound nearly as good.

Wetsounds, Exile, Polk (I'm now running MM651UM's) all offer true marine speakers that can sound very good.

As a bang-for-the-buck pick, I'd sure like to hear the Kicker KM 6502.2 components... at $115 a pair pretty good value for a marine component speaker.

On the "absolute best, price be damned" side, the JL Audio M770s sound absolutely awesome. Warm and true, without being bright. At this price point it's really all about your ear and what you like best. I'd sure give the JL's a long listen if budget weren't an issue.

I just put 3 pairs of wetsound xs-650s in my boat powered off a syn-4. They sound great! definately worth the money!

That speaker is SO dated, hah hah hah. I just love that grill, not. That was a request of Malibu engineering at the time. We made a special grill just for Malibu! (it was smaller OD to fit the dash, that was the difference)

The KM6200 will give you true water-proof performance and a bigger 3/4" done-style tweeter if you want to stay with Kicker.

Shawndoggy is on point, (pardon the pun, had to) about the KM6250.2 being an even better speaker. It has a semi-symmetrical outboard crossover, and big, 1" dome tweeters. He is also right-on regarding power. Kicker speakers have always been very conservatively rated and you can usually pour the coals on hard, as long as you deliver clean power to the speakers.

Holler if I can answer questions-

          It's not an optical illusion.
          It just looks like one.....
