    e-series tower wiring help

installing tower speakers in e-series tower. using 12 gauge wire. was able to feed one set down the starboard side along w/ the tower light wire.
unfortunately the 2nd set of wires won't fit thru the same hole where the rear tower mount attaches to the boat.
my question- how hard is it to remove the tower so I can either make the starboard hole bigger or drill a hole on the port side? can i drill up from the underside (after removing seat back) without removing tower?what size hex is the bolt? any other recommendations?

I ran my wires on the port side of the boat. I unbolted the tower, masked everything off, marked where I wanted to drill and went for it.

I mounted my speakers where I wanted, and marked the holes I needed to drill. Then from there I ran my wires down the tower, and into my storage compartment. Check out the photos below. Maybe they will help you out a bit.

Where are your amps going? The port side mid-ship locker is the ideal amp location as there is a glassed-in composite board just for mounting them to. I would take both speaker wire sets down the port side as its far less wire to reach the port locker. It takes roughly 25ft per speaker.

The allen bolt is 8mm with no nut on the bottom to hold. Removing it will allow you to lift the tower leg and move the the side. From there, you can drill the hole larger if needed.

Going down the starboard side with the ANC light, you would have to remove that wire in order to enlarge the hole.

Use the search button at the top, there are a few threads with pics showing how to wire the "E" tower.

        thanks for the replies.
hyphen- did you have to unbolt the whole tower? or just the one leg?

chpthril- i do have my amps in the port locker mounted to the composite board. vent hose runs between the two amps. was able to run my wires under the walk thru next to the vent hoses. looks clean and less wire to run. may just have to cut the ANC wire and re-drill larger hole.

You should not have 2 unbolt any more then the one rear leg. Then prop it up with a 2x4 block. This should allow room to drill. Mask off the whole area as well. A .5 bit will probably be about the right size.

Zerps - I had the same problem with my wiring. I pulled just the one bolt out of the rear leg proped the tower up with a 4x4 and drilled from the top. I tried removing the seat and drilling from the bottom but I couldn't get the right angle. There is a thick aluminum plate that the tower bolts through that you will have to drill through. After enlarging the hole through the deck it was still a bitch getting the fish tape to turn the corner in the tower so I did it before I bolted the tower back down. I was able to pull a 8 conductor 13 guage cable through there for my 4-6x9's see link for wire http://www.amazon.com/Gauge-Conducto.../dp/B004TLWYWI Good Luck.

Yep, just unbolted the one rear leg. It's easier than what you think.

                Thanks for all the replies.
Worked just fine taking out the one tower bolt. Was able to pull my speaker wire back out thru hole without having to cut/splice (tho did have to for the tower light wire) and used .5 inch drill to enlarge hole. Took more time running the fish tape up and thru the tower break! Now just left with hooking the system all up
