    Kicker 6500.2 help

    Fellas,

My friend is replacing his existing speakers in his tower mounted cans (samson quick disco) with the 6500.2 setup and needs some help.

His existing setup has 3 male to female quick disconnect connections on his tower....left, center, and right.

His existing cans are setup to have a 6 1/2 on the left and right, and two 6 1/2's in the center.

Can he put a mid in each outer can and the horns in the center?

The instructions with the 6500.2 show a single channel split between the mid and horn. Can he run each speaker off of individual channels of a 4 channel amp?

Sorry for all the Q's but we really want to be able to use his existing cans and wiring.

    Thanks,
    Brian

This wiring config will need to be changed if the two center speakers where wired together on a single 2-conductor going to the amp. Each horn needs to be paired with a mid. This can be done either at the amp or at the pod. It takes less wire fished through the tower to do it at the pod, rather then fishing 4 speaker wire pairs to the amp.

    yes, thats perfect.

I would wire, as intended, each mid and horn together, then bridge each pair on the 4 chnl and run it in bridge mode. But what amp is it first as not all 2 chnls can be run in 2 chnl mode.

I'll find out what the amp specifics are

If it is bridgable we'll need to run from one channels positive, split it into two, and go to the horn and mid. Then take the two negatives back into a single run to the other channels negative?

Like wise for the other side....

The easiest way, IMO, is to run a jumper form the horn to the mid and connect the horn's + to the mids's + and then the sam with the -. Then from the mid's + an -, run to the amp and connect the pair's + to amp chnl 1 + and connect the pair's - to amp chnl 2 -. Do the same with the other horn/mid pair and wire the same on chnls 3 and 4.

Set the cross-over filters to Hi-Pass and set the frequency to about 150Hz for both.

Thanks.....I understand the wiring now but don't know if we'll be able to do that and use the single center quick disco for the two horns and the left/right for the mids.

Looks like we'll need to tear apart the tower side and see...
