I have a cooling fan. It was $34.00 much cheaper than a second Harpoon

4 Rev 8s and a syn 4. If that exceeds the budget 2 rev8 and a syn2 will do the trick as well. Or go nuts and get Some Rev 10.. I went with the 8 to keep as much headroom as I could. But since your not looking to be "The" guy 2 8s is nice and 4 is crazy loud.IMPO Good luck...your looking at quality stuff and cant really go wrong with either so either way enjoy!

so would one harpoon amp provide enough power for 2 xm7's, a 12" sub, and 4 in-boats? (knowing of course 2 dedicated amps would be more power and possibly better sound, but cost is also an issue)

No, thats a 3 amp setup. The Harpoon would only be suited for the pair of XM7's.

If cost is a concern, there are cheaper amps then the Harpoon that will deliver same or more power and are more efficiant.

              Majestic-

Is there any shroud or other device that is not shown in that pic that helps direct air over or around the amp? Don't take this wrong; I am friends with all the manufacturer dudes, and maybe it is a bad picture angle, but what I see in the pic kinda reminds me of someone shaking an empty salt shaker over a bag of movie popcorn. Probably a bad analogy but I am curious...

I only bring it up because lots of guys could benefit from increased air circulation. How is your fan system set up? I could only guess that somehow there is a hole behind the fan pulling air from under the amp out of some sort of cutaway cavity maybe?

If it works well we ought to know what you did! Share?

              It's not an optical illusion.
              It just looks like one.....

Phil- I appreciate your insight and no worries on the salt shaker analogy and honestly it's probably not too far off. The amps are mounted 1" above the board and the Stinger fan is blowing air under the Harpoon. In hind sight I should have mounted it at the bottom and pushed the warm air up but I liked the look better and being this was my first install maybe a rookie mistake but working well so far. That little fan is on a relay and when the stereo is powered up it turns on and it blows quite a bit of air. If I put my hand at the bottom of the amp there is quite a bit of air moving.

I doubt you will find anything earth shattering in the execution but I have run it hard in the heat and experienced none of the issue mentioned above.

Happy to hear any of your advice/suggestions.
