    Problem with Syn 6 amplifier

I recently purchased a syn 6 to run 3 sets of XS 650's and 1 XS 10FA sub. When i installed the amp it immediately threw the DC OFFSET code. I went back out the next day and the amp turned on fine. While at the lake yesterday though it threw the DC OFFSET code again after playing for around 2 hours. I then started the boat and it came back on for about 5 minutes before going back to DC OFFSET. I plan on contacting wet sounds tommorrow, but in the meantime I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them and what causes that fault code. In another note the 2 syn 4's have been keeping power fine with no problems, so I dont think its a voltage issue.

I have not had to deal with a code-15 personally, so I cant offer any specifics on what might be some causes. But I would suggest maybe putting a DVOM on the leads and check the voltage at the amp. The Syn-6 is a little different inside from the Syn-2 and Syn-4, so it could react in a different manor then the other two.

I checked the voltage at the amp and it was 12.44. I would think that should be plenty. Sounds like im just gonna have to contact WS. Pretty frustrating after spending almost 900 bucks on that amp.

I had the same code last weekend and was told to disconnect power, let the amp "hard reset" and see what happened. I disconnected all power fromthe amp including the remote line and let it sit for a fe hours while I was working on the ballast system. When I hooked everything back up, it started flashing blue like the other amps, then turned solid blue, then went into the 5 and 1 code 15. My next step was to check the wiring and easiest way to do this was hook the same power supply up to the another syn 6, that worked perfectly so it confirmed the amp is the problem. I will be sending it off this week and hope for the best! After 2 years of perfect performance and ZERO change in the boat, I'm hopeing it's something fixable, $900 is a ton of money for a 2 year amp!

Best thing to do is give Gyver a call at 877-938-7757 and he can get the amp back and we can look at it. Code 15 usually means there is a problem with a part on the board. when the amp goes into DC offset, it usually will not come back on. So double check and make sure it was not a different code.

we will get you both taken care of so no worries.

It sounds like were experiencing the exact same problem. I'm pretty jealous that you got 2 years while I haven't even barely got 2 hours. I'm hoping they can get the problem lined out without having to send it in. And you are right about 900 being to expensive to be experiencing problems. But any and everything will have problems at some point.

I appreciate that Tim. I'm the only one around here with wetsounds, and everyone has been extremely impressed with the system so far. So hopefully we can get the problem lined out quickly.

Definitely work with Gyver and Tim. Those guys are top notch and are an example of what customer service should be! They'll take care of you.

I've ALWAYS had great experiences with WS (Tim, Shawn, Omar, Simon) and expect the same on this issue. My biggest concern is that nothing changed in my boat and when I hooked everything up, 2 of the 3 amps work perfectly like they did last fall. I would hate to think that I might end up upgrading the entire stereo because of one bad amp....ha!

I agree with everyone on the forums about Omar. He talked to me on the phone for at least 30 minutes when I was ordering my stereo, and was nice as could be. He eventually talked me into ordering 2 syn 4's instead of 1 to run my rev 8's and i couldnt be happier with how they sound. Now if I wouldnt have gotten ahold of a bad syn 6 it would have been the perfect experience. But in the scheme of things waiting a couple weeks for repair on the amp will be worth the wait because in only the short time it worked I could tell I had one hell of a stereo on my hands. Hands down WetSounds makes the best marine equipment on the market. I have had everything from kicker to bazooka on my boat and neither held a candle to WS.
