04 Tigè 21i help on system upgrade!

I just bought my first inboard boat last week. Went with the 04 21i, it runs great, just needs new interior after this summer. It already has Wetsounds Pro 60s on the tower which I can't hear boarding. Its got a clarion sub that bottoms out with 100 watts on it. The clarion 6.5s in deck speakers all suck and need replaced. I order a pair of kicker KMT60s tower speakers. 150 watts rms to each pod and got the kicker zx450.2 to push them. I also got a Rockford Fosgate M210s4bsub to go in the free air hole under the **** pit to replace the old clarion. I want to replace the 350 watt kicker amp pushing the wet sounds and amp with a jl 500/1 for the Rockford and add a jl 300/2 to give the wetsounds the power they need. I got a 2 Farad cap and distribution blocks because I'll b running 4 amps eventually. I need some suggestions on in board speakers to go with. I was thinking jl m series 6.5s? Also, I would like to get another Rockford 10" so I can wire it to 2 ohms into the 500 watt mono block. Where would b the best place to mount an additional sub and do they need boxes or will they sound fine in the free air compartments? Should b a straight forward install and will try to post up before and after pics. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance!

Congrats on your new boat and welcome to the site. Your boat should be jamming when your done.

Its going on 11 over here on the right coast, so just one quick thought tonight......ditch the CAP and build a proper battery bank.

I have 2 battery's on a battery switch already. Could u advise on how many more batteries I'd need and how to wire them to charge off the alternator and still b on a switch? Thanks in advance and can definately wait til tomorrow.

You are off to a good start right here. I can guarantee that you will not notice your headlights dimming when the sub hits.

One of the reason we dont need CAP's in boats, is because we spend a lot of time listening the system with the engine off, and a CAP will not have the same effect when running off static battery voltage V's alternator voltage. A CAP is nothing more then a voltage storage device that has the ability to disperse its stored voltage rapidly. They cant produce voltage, nor can they have a voltage level thats higher then the battery, or the alt if the engine is running. So, with a house battery bank with sufficient cable size for the amps, You will not need a cap.

Now, how many batteries you need will be determined by how long you want to play the system with the engine off. Its a calculation of available Ah's and estimate current draw.

Those Clarion in-boats are most likely deteriorating, so good idea to just replace them.

If the Pro60's are running bridged on the Kicker 350.4, then they are receiving 175W rms. Thats spot-on power, so I would revisit the the amps tuning if you can not hear them at boarding line length. But, if im reading your post correctly, it sounds like the 350.4 is powering the pair of Pro60's and the Clarion sub. If so, then the root cause of poor performance is not the gear, but how its utilized. In reality, the Pro60's would get a tad more (175W rms) from the 350.4 , as compared to the 150W rms from the jl300/4 (Slash series???) if the gear put to better use.

The Kicker KMT60 is a great setup and the ZX540.2 is a good match. The four 6.5" continuous mid-bass drivers will offer good near-field listening, and the two Horn loaded tweeters will get the sound out to the rider. If im reading right, you plan to run both the KTM60 and Pro60.

I would a single 12" sub under the helm, in an enclosure @ 500W over two infinite-baffle subs. On your boat, I think this would require relocating the batteries though.

To add to the discussion on Caps, most even in car installations are only bandaids for poor power wiring. If you have the proper size power wire, a proper grouding scheme, and adequate batteries you will not see any benefit from the cap. Keep in mind the very first item usually inside a big amplifier is, what? you guessed it, a great big cap...

Chpthril, hey you your right about the kicker 350.4 powering the pro 60s and the sub so I'm hoping when I just bridge the pro 60s to each channel it will double the power and be able to hear boarding. The helm has the hole already for a 10 but I could cut it to fit a 12. I'm unsure of how to build a box that will still utilize the original front. As for the amps ill use t. he zx450.2 to power the kmt60s and the jl 300/2 slash series to power the pro 60s. I already have a rockford 10 I guess ill use til I figure out s box for the 12 and have the jl 500/1 slash series to power the sub. Would the kicker 6.5 for in boat speakers sound as good as the jl m series 6.5s. And as far as rerouting the batteries they're in the back on both sides of the bench seat so I could add one or two in the ski locker in the back by the battery switch. I plan on listening to the battery for maybe an hour at a time tops without engine running. Thanks for the inputs!

I have 2 jl 12w6s in my truck with a 1000/1 jl amp pushing them and they r super loud! Could these 12s b put in the boat without rattling the boat apart? Could I build a dual box for under the back bench seat? Just a thought if it could b possible?
