Adding power to my stock Wet Sounds system

    I have a 2011 RZ2 with stock Syn 6, and Syn 2.
The Syn 2 is running one pair of Pro 80's. I want to give them more power!!! My question is can i bridge the Syn 2, and give them more power, or do i need to upgrade to a Syn 4??

At some point i will be adding power to the in boat speakers also by running them off a Syn 4 (i think).

    Question two-
Stereo guys whats the best way to make these upgrades? Idealy
i think- i need to sell my Syn 6, and add two Syn 4's (one Syn4= tower, and one Syn4= 8 xs650, and keep the Syn2= XS-12,,, and add a WS420)

Is there a better, or less expensive way of to add more power to my system?

    1) The current Syn-2/Pro80 setup is delivering 200W RMS to each Pro80, which is ideal. There is no other way to configure it to get any additional wattage, so you would need to go with more amp, such as the Syn-4. Have you considered adding a 2nd pair to the tower? Doubling the surface area will also increase the overall output.

    2) the Syn-4 is a perfect match for 8 XS-650 in-boats and the Syn-2 would be perfect for an XS-12D2

chpthril, i considered adding a pair of Rev8, or Pro60, but im worried about head-room. So in your valued opinion- should i add a pair, and if so what pair should i add? Or should i upgrade the amp to a Syn4?

Mike, I know you know 20X more than I do on this stuff but.....
The Sync 2 produces 700X1 @ 2 ohms according to the specs, and this is bridged mode.

So why can't he wire both Pro80's in bridge mode (giving a 2 ohm value/load) and deliver 350 watts to each Pro80?

I think you misread. The RMS wattage bridged is for 4 Ohms. It does not list a bridged 2 Ohm load.

              That's why I went with the Arc Audio 300.4 bridged. 350W X 2 bridged.

I definately would not run a bridged amp at 2 ohms. I don't know of any amps that actually recommend that...
              Waiting for another good one!

We cant decide what Ohm load we "make" the amp run at, the impedance (load in Ohms) is determined by the speakers internal construction. Its a given factor, we can change it. It does change when add a 2nd or third speaker to the channel, but even then, Ohms Law still determins the impedence based on how we wire those additional speakers.

So, a single 4 ohm speaker, such as the Pro 80, is a 4 ohm speaker. With a single 4 ohm speaker wired per chnl, the amp sees a 4 ohm load and delivers 200W rms per chnl. If we add a 2nd 4 ohm speaker, wired in parallel, the amp sees a 2 ohm, thus delivering 350W (700W total with 2 chnls) rms per chnl. Ok, so theres the 350 watts you are seeking, but it took two 4 ohm speakers to get it, and since there are two speakers on each chnl then split the power. So each speaker nets 175W.

In regards to the bridged power: Amps can only handle an impedence load of so low. The Syn-2 is stable down to 2 ohm x 2 stereo or 4 ohm x 1 bridged. The only safe way to bridge two 4 ohm speaker on the Syn2 is to wire them in series. This equals an 8 Ohm load. This is perfectly safe, but guess what, the amp "sees" 4 ohm per chnl and you are back to the orignal 200W rms net to each speaker

Your system will defi Italy come to life if you ditch the syn 6 for 2 syn 4s and then run the sub off the syn 2. The pro 80s will eat up that that 400w a piece! We run rev 8s off a syn 4 and have a syn 2 going to a 485. The tower sounds amazing!

I just had any idea to save on buying 2 amps.
SYN6= channels 1-4 to run one pair of XS650, channels 5-6 to run sub
                              SYN2= to run 2 pair of XS650
                              Add a new SYN4 to run Pro80's
                              WS420 for control
                              Would that work???
