    1998 Tige stereo upgrade

I told you all that I was goin to take pictures of the build. Well I have been slacking. Lol. Got the new HU installed and 4 of the 6 JBL MS6200s with the Pyle PA660 Amp. Just got the battery isolator and the JBL MPS 1000 from the UPS guy 5 minutes ago. So I am hoping to have the install done this weekend. So I will be taking pictures of the install from here on out.

is that the sub right below the steering wheel? I have been looking at options on my 1996 2200i and that looks nice right there. My boat has a sub box mounted there and there is not much room for my feet to stretch out.

Not to derail, but should the sub be in a box or not? My 2200i had a sub box right below the wheel, I did remove the sub and box, but was going to reinstall the bus like yours. That would be all good? or is it better to be in a box? It takes up too much room where it was at.

Some subs are designed specifically for an infinite-baffle/free-air (no box) install and others do "ok" run this way. But, going with a sub designed for an enclosure and placed in an enclosure, will typically trump an IB sub.

The next thing to consider is the design of the boat. In order to effectively execute an IB install, you need a solid wall to mount the sub through that is going to provide complete front/rear isolation. Most Tige boats have a solid wall under the helm, which makes them perfect for considering. Bu and MC have used IB's in the past with only a false wall, or facade, and the performance loss shows.

So, what sub do you have? whats in the storage area in front of the helm? How are you woodworking skilz? If you have room and are up to building a box, then I would recommend building a box. if there's no room for box, or you are not wanting to tackle the mod. then an infinite-baffle sub is a decent solution to consider.
