Just my luck, I already bought the DIY cans.

If I use the IX amp to support all six speakers wont the 4 speakers being supported by 2 channels have less watts going to them and not as loud as the front two?

I am going to add 2 more deep cycle batteries and install them next to the amps in the ski locker. My question is:

        1. Is it ok to leave the original deep cycle batt in it original place and run 0 gage to the 2 new batteries in the ski locker?
        2. The original batteries are 24 size 800 cca. Should I go with a bigger battery 27/29 same CCA?
        3. I have a line on Interstate batteries. Are they a good battery for this application?

By the way I will go with your suggestion on the IX1000.5 and the KM speakers.

          1) Yes, but I would suggest putting an ON/OFF switch between the original "House" and the new "House" bank. This will allow you to isolate the two batteries under them when restarting the boat after cranking the tunes for a time. 3 depleted batteries is a heck of a load to place on the alt all at once.

2)I would stick to a Group-24 marine cranking for the main starting. For the house bank, all the batteries should be the same and of like age. So, if you have room to fit the 13L x 6.75W x 10H Group 29 in factory house battery location, then go with the Group-29 for the entire house bank. Rule of thumb, go with as big as the space can fit and you wallet can bear.

          3) Interstate Makes a great marine battery, thats what I sell.

Could I get away with only 2 Interstate SR29 deep cycle batteries to power the system?

So can I replace the origional deep cycle batt in the origional location with a new SR29 (if it fits) and locate the 2nd SR29 in the ski locker next to the amps. I was told that you should have the battery/batteries as close to the amps as possible and would I still use the off/on switch for 1 battery?

What would you recommend knowing the system that I am putting into the boat and playing music 1-3 hours a day with engine off.

The SR-29's will fit into the boat. I will replace the 24M-XHD with a new one and replace the Optima SC34DM with the SR-29, run zero gauge wire to a on/off switch in the ski locker and connect 2 SR-29's to power two IX500.4's and IX1000.5. I am going to install an onboard charger but my question is do I install the charger on the two batteries in the ski locker only and turn the switch to OFF when charging or ?

Sounds like you are going to have a nice setup! I have the IX500.4 running a pair of WS Pro 60's and that amp is pretty solid, doesn't even get hot like the ZX series of amps do. I also have a similar setup (from the factory) of the ZX700.5 running 6 in-boat speakers and a 10" Comp CVR with the ZXMRLC to control the towers and in-boats and it sounds pretty good!

You have a couple of options. In 9 out of 10 setups, the main starting battery doesnt get run down, just the house bank running the stereo, So, on a regular basis, its one the stereo bank that needs replenished between trips. Now during the off season or extended lay-ups, its nice to have a maintainer on the starting battery.

You could do a 3-bank and have a leg on each battery. The ISO keeps the starting and house banks isolated and the on/off isolates the two house batteries.

Or, place a large two-bank on the two stereo batteries and leave the main alone. This could go one step further and place a small maintainer on the starting battery just for storage.

Or, use a 2-bank with one leg on the center post of the Iso and the 2nd leg on the stereo battery in the mid-ship locker. The one leg would charge both the starting and one of the house batteries and the other leg charges the 2nd house.

I have a Clarion CMD4 receiver and would like to upgrade since I am installing all new equipment. What receiver would work best with ipod controls and remotes that will fit in stock locations?
How about Clarions CMD6, CMD7 etc...

Thanks CHPTHRIL for all of your help! Im done with the installation and just need to know a couple things.
                              1. Need a good onboard charger. Any recomendations?
                              2. Having difficultly with the kicker zone controller. When I turn the right knob to the tower speakers, it controlls the speakers by turning the volume up or down but the boat speakers stay on contantly at the same level. The left knob does nothing. Any suggestions?

Theres an easy fix for the Zone controller. Call me if you want, its easier to explain over the phone then typing. I'll PM you my number.

There are lots of quality on-board chargers: Guest, Pro-Marioner, C-Tek, Schumacher. The best charger is the right one for the job. Go with one thats gonna yield a charge of about 10% of you bank's total Ah's.
