Chris - looks really good and sounds fantastic. It's pretty obvious from the pics you put the time and effort into the redesign.

I told you when you where done, you'd know every thing to know about stereos. Your the guru now chief! Congrats!

Dynamat is fine but don't they make a thicker version? I forgot what they call it but I used in some rad aps' and it worked better than stock dynamat

I could use a couple of tower speakers...and an amp. R U selling the old stuff?
Sorry all the old stuff is long gone.

The main reason was the ability to not trailer with the speakers attached. With my previous set-up I was trailering 175 miles home in the dark and when I arrived home there were only 3 out 4 speakers still attached to the tower (one of the bolts sheared off in the clamp), This got me thinking that it could have easily sheared off on the water striking a passenger or could have happened on the road again maybe causing an accident next time???

I am understanding that Harpoon is running the tower speakers only correct? Do you think 4ea SXTs are needed or do you think 2ea would be very good as far as sound quality in combination with the XM7s? Just wondering if 6ea is a little over kill or if they really make a noticable difference?

The Harpoon is running just the towers. I think the 4 sxt's are needed if you are going to run the Xm-7's. A single pair of sxt's and a single pair of Xm's would not be a good match. 6 speakers is overkill and i knew that going in but wanted the best surf setup with the ability to make the system heard at far distance if i wanted to. 4 sxt's off the Harpoon is more than enough and will still carry some distance.

To get enough mid-bass to balance out the output of the XM7 horns, running 2 pair of SXT-65's is really the best way to go.

Instead the 6-pod "Hybrid" you may consider 1 or 2 pair of the XM9's on the Harpoon.

                              Majestic and Chpthril

Which would produce the best sound for surfing and wakeboarding:
1 pair of XM9s and 1 pair of STXs or 1 pair of XM7s and 2 pair of STXs?

It's my understanding the XM9s give more base and still get the sound out there for the wakeboarder to hear. Therefore my thinking is with a pair of STXs and the XM9s, the sound will still get out to the wakeboarder, but will give the lower base needed to offset the horn in the XM9s (higher pitch). Or is there just not enough base coming out of the XM9s to make up for another pair of STXs? Goal would be to eliminate 2 speakers and have only the 4 on the tower.

Were the XM9s avaliable when you were looking at your options Majestic? If so, did you look at the above idea including the XM9s and what made you go with combination you have? Was it just simply better sound quality or something else?

I really appreciate you guys giving your opinions on this. Thanks

One pair of Xm-9s and a pair of SXT's would be pointless. The 9's would blow out the SXT's and you wouldn't hear them. The 9's weren't available till shortly after.

My suggestion is I can set you up with a few guys close to you and the nice thing about the clamps is it allows you to shift speakers around. I know I guy in Salem that has the hybrid set-up with the Xm-9's and he could drop one pair of the SXT's so you could see what that sounds like. I don't think you would be unhappy with 2 pair of SXT's or one pair of 9's.
