    Majestic's stereo install

    Here is the start of my long overdue stereo thread. This all started around the first of the year after I decided I needed a change.

    The old system included;
    Stock Clarion CMD5
    Stock 4 Wetsounds XST-650's
    4 Bullet Hollow point 770's
    1 Alpine PDX-5
    2 Alpine PDX 4.100's
    2 JL audio 10w3's in sealed box

    Here are the pics of the "professional install" done by one of the largest local stereo shops.

      Now on to the new stuff;

      Kept the stock Clarion CMD5 and 4 Wetsounds interior speakers. I will replace all the Wetsound interiors with Exile and add one more pair in the cabin over the off-season.

      Added;

      1 Exile Harpoon (powering tower speakers) Amp is running at 1.33ohms for about 1300 watts.
      1 Exile 1500.1 (powering sub)
      1 Exile 800.4 (powering stock wetsounds interiors)
      2 pair Exile Sxt 65Q's
      1 pair Exile XM-7's
      Exile throttle box
      Clarion EQS746 EQ
      Tsunami distro block

      Part of the reason I went Exile is I wanted tower speakers that were removable and Exile and Samson improved on Samson's old design. My E-series tower wobbles a little more than I would like and I wanted to limit the amount of weight on the tower, interesting enough the 6 Exiles weighed less than the 4 Bullets.

      I contacted Brian at Exile and he came up to Seattle from Portland and we had lunch and started working with me to come up with a plan. This was also my first ever install and despite wanting to give up almost every day I pushed through and finished right before the end of July. Most of you know my 1 year old was also going through chemotherepy so I could only work on the install a couple hours here and there.

      I want to thank Brian and the whole Exile team for helping me along the way giving me good direction and putting up with all the stupid questions via phone, text and e-mail. I have certianly learned alot along the way and things I would have done differently next time.

        New Amp Rack install pics;

        1/2" birch

        Amps and distro block. The Alpine didn't make the final install

        Test fit of amp board

        Blocks of trex decking glued to the hull

        Amp board installed with couplers on the bolts to allow the amps to sit about 1/2 inch off the board to allow wiring to come under the amps to conceal as much as possible

          Sub install;

          Decided to remove the weird material that the the helm wall is made of, at first I was going to mount the sub directly to the wall and box in the back side but I dont think it would have sealed well and this turned out to be the easier install.

          Box installed prior to resin being applied

          I built a trim plate and covered with resin and carpet that is simply attached with heavy-duty velcro that allow for removal if necessary. Sub is a Xi-12d that is being powered off of the 1500.1. I still need to put some dynamat around the gauges on the dash as it pounds so hard they rattle a bit.

            damn..your goin for it. I like it

            Dynamat is fine but don't they make a thicker version? I forgot what they call it but I used in some rad aps' and it worked better than stock dynamat

            I could use a couple of tower speakers...and an amp. R U selling the old stuff?

              Towers speakers;

              This is Exiles "Hybrid set-up" that is mainly designed to sound good closer to the boat for surfing but believe me with the XM-7 HLCD's matched with the 2 pair of SXT's you can still be heard across the lake if you want to be. The throttle box allow for shaping the sound of the XM-7's.

              Speakers dis-connected

              With socks installed which also have cool carrying handles;

              Un-covered and ready

                Finished amp rack pics;
                Amps installed along with distro block and amp fan for the Harpoon that has really not been hot enough to need it but it is one of my favorite features.

                Clarion EQ and boost box on Walkway wall (still have some wiring to clean up behind it)
