WetSounds Pro 80 Voice Coil Issue

I have 4 Pro 80's on my tower being powered by a syn2 amp. Over the weekend both of the speakers on the right side had the voice coils burn out. The head unit runs through the WS 420, and the amp eq was set to high. The music was loud, but not crazy lound and there was no noticable distortion. The speakers should still be under warranty so my question is do I bring them into the dealership where I bought them (Eagle Marine), or do I ship them to wet sounds?

    David,
With a boat reciept you can handle the warranty which ever way is most convenient for you.
I'm curious exactly how you diagnosed that both of the voice coils are burnt. Are they frozen or do they smell or does the DCR measure inordinately low or do they measure open or do they make a foreign sound when played? Do the tweeters still play without the midbass? Have you reversed the input RCAs on the amplifier or set the input to summed mono to verify an incoming signal to the amplifier? I ask because with the windy weather and bumpy rides its not unusual to lose an RCA connection at the rear of the EQ.
Let me know before shipping them off.

The tweeters still play but the mid bass doesn't make any sound. The woffers are very stiff if you touch them. When I took them apart to take them off of the tower you could smell a burnt smell.

        David,
Okay, that is clearly thermal damage causing seized VCs.
I would at least check the other two for that same smell as an indication that they have also been damaged and failure is not far behind.
Here is what concerns me. Both L & R amplifier channels are crossed over and gained the same. If there is zero evidence of early damage to the other channel speakers then I would investigate for signs that there is a gain inequity at the source or in the downloads. Having a problem in one channel only is kind of unusual so you might want to send in the amplifier simultaneously for a thorough evaluation. It would be a shame to get the speakers repaired but still have a problem intact with the electronics resulting in a repeat.

Ok dropped them off today. They will ship them to Wetsounds tomorrow. Any body have an idea on turn a round time? Are do I just buy the Rev 10's and sell the pro 80s when they come back in............
