    Powering Sound System

After being out this weekend, I have decided that I want to modify the power switching to my sound system. Chpthrl commented that an auxiliary switch was a good alternative to the ignition switch, the down side being you need to remember to turn it off.

Not trying to over engineer (OK, maybe a bit), I am thinking of running the power through a 15 minute hold up relay powered through the existing ON and AUX positions? Has anyone done this? Thoughts?

Put it on an aux switch and get in the habit of turning it and your perko switch off every night. No more over engineering.

I have a full on routine every night.
Clean out, toss everything overboard on the driveway.
Shut down all helm switches, turn off Perko
    Cover boat
    Drink Crown 'n 7
    Waiting for another good one!

If you leave it on at the end of the day, I see the advantage of the 15 minute relays, but during the corse of a normal day on the water, you are going to have to get up (or climb in to the boat) every 15 minutes to cycle the key when the relay times out.

If I just want to wire the amps and head unit through an auxiliary switch, what's the best way to go about figuring which power wires need to be relocated? I'm assuming that I can find them at the ignition switch and not have to chase them from the equipment???

Amps are triggered on by the head-unit, so the head-units remote turn-on is the only thing that needs to be switched. Its a 14ga red wire off the back of the head-unit.
