    new gen i pod touch.

I have used i pods in my boat since 2006. I just bought a new generation i touch and when I plug it in to the Alpine interface cable I get a message on the i pod that its not supported by this system. Any ideas Thanks

But it still works doesn't it?

I get that message on my iPhone4 as well. I have no head unit, just an EQ that I plug my iPhone directly into...
    Waiting for another good one!

Is that interface cable integrated into the Alpine head unit?

That's odd, I see that message all the time with my phone but it still works - although I've never seen it with an ipod...

Try rebooting the ipod while it is plugged in to the stereo.

Sorry, I have heard that sometimes works.

Do you have an older ipod that you can try, to make sure the cable and headunit is still good?

Just spoke with a local stereo shop and was told its a software issue and the new I pod touch is not compatible with my Alpine. Thanks for your help

Looks like a new stereo or I need to find an older I pod. Bummer

Problem solved, I'll trade you my year old ITouch for your new one! I bought 2 of them 2 months before the new one came out and Best Buy wouldn't let me trade them out or return them to get the new one.

Just remove the head unit all together and put in an EQ and buy the wire for an iPhone/iPod cable to the RCA jack.

In fact - I have an Arc Audio KEQ7 that I'll sell you... maybe. Depending on the cost of a new Wetsounds ws420. I really like that EQ because of the mic it comes with

Not suggesting that route just because I want out of my EQ - I really don't want to spend more money - it's a great solution though - I NEVER listen to radio. Pandora or iPod only...

I put the EQ where the old headunit used to be... (I need a better trim kit, but it works for now)
