    this years stereo upgrade budget

i currently have 1 10" fa and pair of pro 80's powered by syn4.interested in mb8's and 1 xsxxx or 2 12's witch ever is better bang, looking for more mid and bass to rider, passengers want more bass and less treble ,never heard the mb8's though and want to fill in tower holes anyway

mb-8's sound like the ticket for what you want. they add a TON of mid bass punch and fill out the sound. still good for the rider but designed for surfing and party cove. so will add a lot more in and around the boat.

what other amp is in the boat?

If you have the SYN-6 running in boats and sub, you could power a single xxx and get 600x1 from chs 5-6 bridged.

put the xxx in a ported box under the drivers foot well. it will be better than two 12's unless you do a ton of work on the second woofer. as you usually have to put the second woofer in non preferred location. for instance under the passenger compartment, or a back storage locker. so you are left with needing to cut vents to get the bass out and can run into phase cancelation issues etc...our demo boat has two XXX mirror imaged, one under the drivers and one under the passenger compartment. however we removed the trash can in the walk way and made that entire thing a vent for the woofer. so it can be done but might be more work than you want.

the boys from hydrotunes did freddy's rz4, he is sometimes on this site. with a single xxx in a slot loaded ported box and it hammers. his boat sounds unreal. he also has a pair of mb-8 and pair of 80's on the tower.

so does our demo boat, we run mb-8 and 80's. we run dual SYN-4's. bridged per pair so 400x2 and 400x2.

Am I reading right that the 80s and 10fa are powered by the Syn4? Whats powering the cabin speakers and how many?

Adding the MB8's to the Pro80 will be a huge contribution to the overall sound for the near-field listening such as surfing and when anchored, but will not be as dramatic out at the end of an 80ft tow rope. I would recommend stepping into a Syn2 for the 80's and 8's.

A single XXXX on the Syn1 in a ported enclosure is a SLAMMER, period. An XS-12 in a sealed or ported enclosure on a Syn2 is also impressive and a pair of XS-12's on a Syn1, if executed correctly, would be awesome also. The key is to figure out what you can do, in terms of sub enclosure, correctly, and let that dictate which sub and how many you go with. At the end of the day, a single sub done right will sound better then 2 done/placed poorly.

The Ws-420 will only work for speakers that are amp'd.

With that amount of bass you are looking to add in the boat, I would highly recommend getting all the in-boats on an amp. Roll them over to the Syn4 and then that leaves you with getting an amp for the tower and sub. 2 Syn2's would git'r done.
