    Miscell Q's on Stereo wiring

    Hi Guys,

    1. I have a remote wire for 3 amps and a kicker dual zone control...4 in total. Can I just connect them all together solder, shrink tube and take only 1 to deck head?

    2. Can I hook up a few small LED's to the remote turn-on power wire from deck head? or should it be to courtesy lights. I was thinking of throwing in a couple of LEDS above amps?

    3. For multiple speaker wires to left or right side of amp, can they be spliced together or should both be taken to terminal on amp?

    4. Amps will run off of 3 batteries...can I take switched power from those batteries for deck head. Would it cause any problems or interference?

    5. For a Kicker six-pack, I will take 2 pair of speaker wire up tower. What is the best way to connect the 2 6500's and the horn?

    Thanks Everyone.

    1) I daisy chain them. Head unit to the closest amp, then to the next, and so on.

    2) I'd hook them to the courtesy lights.

    3) If you take them all the way back to the amp, you have more options if you want to change something in the future.

4&5) Hopefully CHP will chime in.
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

Never thought of options down the road

      Thanks

        1) I would use a relay triggered by the head-unit to supply a good solid 12V to the 3 amps and the ZXM-RLC. As Adan mention, you can daisy-chain from one amp to the next if the amps are all mounted right together. Just run from the relay to the first amp, then to the next and to the next.

        2) Using a relay, you will not have an issue powering the LEDs. But having them on a switch is nice though.

        3) Yes and yes With a pair of speakers wired in parallel, you can wire: amp to speaker to speaker, or amp to each speaker with their own leads. Go with which ever is the cleanest and easiest.

        4) Most definitely. But it will be constant 12V for the head-units yellow wire. The H/U's switched red can still run to the ignition switch or to a toggle switch is you like. Its always best for the head-unit to share the same power and ground as the amps. Since you batteries are right there, this is simple. For those that have the batteries located in the back of the boat, take the head-units yellow constant power and ground to the + and - lugs on one of the amps.

        5) Take the two 12ga pairs to the horns. From there, use the 10ft of 14ga thats in your order to jump each mid-bass to the horn. This is electrically illustrated in the KM6500.2 manual. How you actually run the wires is up to you.

If it where me, I would pop a hole in the tower next to each speaker clamp with the horn being in the middle. Then I would fish a short length of the 14ga from the inside mid to the horn and then another piece of 14ga from the outside mid to the horn. This was, all the wire is concealed, except for the short service loop from the tower to the can. This can be dressed up with some split-loom or expandable loom and some snap-grommets to fill the holes.

Thak Alot for the info guys. All I need is my "stuff" to arrive, and of course pickup my boat.

Currently working on my list for ballast so talk to you soon Mike. LOL

I want to use expandable braid on the speaker wire between tower and each speaker can. Most are plastic however this on eis chromed.

Techflex Chrome is so much more than just a hot looking wire and hose covering. The electrical conductivity of the heavy gauge metallized Mylar allows this innovative product to be applied where electrical shielding is required

Would it cause any problems as the chromed loom loom will act as a shield?

As long as the ends of the loom are not touching the bare ends of the speaker wire, you're good!

              That should look sweet!

Dave, I never did receive your last email yesterday with your wire diag, try resending!

On a relay can I use both 87 and 87a to the remote in on the amps?

                Thanks

87A is a NC (normally closed) terminal and will open when coil is energized through 85 and 86.

Does the relay for the remote power require an in-line fuse on #30 power line in?

Problem with a fuse on battery side (30) is that it has to be large enough to carry all the loads on that relay, but small enough to pop if there was a short on any of the legs its powering.

I would mount the relay close to my power source, then fuse each load accordingly. You can get like a small 5-fuse block cheap.

This relay is the one you suggested for the remote turn on wires to amps and controller. Do I still need fuses

2 more Q's if you guys don't mind.

#1 Will LED lights placed close to a ZXMRLC level control effect the control in any way?

#2 When contecting batteries together, can I use a copper terminal or should they be the gold plated ones??

                          Thank You
