Pro 80x or 60x if I have to choose?

OK, the budget will ONLY allow me to buy a pair of the Pro 80x OR the Pro 60x for the alpha z tower, but not both. Nor do I have plans to add the other pair anytime in the near future, so if i had to choose, which would should i get and why?

80 because they're bigger and you likely won't think you need the 60's after that.
    Waiting for another good one!

1 set of pro 80s is like 2 sets of pro 60's.

        Pro80 ALL THE WAY

Then when the budget allows, add a pair of MB8's.

so seems like everyone is saying pro 80, but the only difference in specs between the 2 are the 80 handles 400W, and has a larger driver (8"). the dB level is the same for both speakers, does the 80 really justify the cost difference? whats the real world difference between the 2?

I'm sure will chime in with a more in depth and more technical answer, but simply put, yes, the Pro80 is most definitely a step up from the Pro60. It handles more power, which can equate to more volume and projection. The larger surface area gives the Pro80 the ability to handle handle more mid-bass then the pro60. This is more beneficial for the closer in listen like surfing and or party cove type scene.

If some one is on the fence between the 60's and 80's and thier budget allows for either to be properly powered, then no question, go with the 80's.

At 1 watt they may be the same db level but what about 200, that's where your difference is. I have the 60's and wish I had the 80's.

2 pro 80's do not equal 4 pro 60's. Sorry to say....And think about the head room your gonna loose with the 80's. The Alpha-Z tower is not very high so if your a tall guy then you might go with the 60's. If not ride out with the 80's!

                          Light200,

If you can, try and get inside a boat with the 80s and 60s installed on an AlphaZ. You need to balance how much headroom you loose vs how much you want the boat to rock. For me its about room, I fill up with people and stay on the water all day, I don't beach the boat. I have been on RZ2's with pro 80s and watched the demo boat driver hit his head twice on the pro 80s. My plan this winter is one set of pro 60s on the outboard locations just for headroom, but that is my preference. If you don't have any boats near you mock them up with cardboard, the specs are on the wetsounds website. tape them on the tower and simulate getting your gear in/out of the boat. Take it out on the water and see what you can live with.

You will have no regrets with the pro80's. They are loud but have great audio quality. I have 4 Pro80's and they rock.

4 pro 80s? Rock on hard I chose a set of each, 60s in the center position for room. The pro 80s on the side never get in the way for me. 80s all the way. I would put them on the side. I absolutely recommend speakersoxx for them if trailering. No bug splatter ever or pits on speaker.
                              GO BIG!!
