    12" Sub Placement

Ive read about a few guys custom making boxes for their subs. Couldnt it just be cut into the vertical footplate under drivers side consol? If I decided I needed or wanted a ported box, couldnt a person build one and install on the back side of the footplate, attached with an "L" bracket of some kind and then use a hole saw to make a couple of holes just in front of that port.

Possibly, but the problem is that a ported box start to get a little on the large side, and will not fit through the access opening to the backside of the under-helm storage. One of the better options is to build a box and cover the front with a matching carpet, then cut a square opening in the wall that the box will slide into. Once seated, the front side of the box lines up with the wall and the carpet hides the seam.

Is it hard to cut that square out? Is it fiberglass or wood

        sub box

nope, it is not hard to cut into fiberglass under dash!!
If you are mechanicly inclined, You can do it. Drill a Hole Or Use a Hole saw Then take a sawsall and start cutting. I used a Wood Blade, Cut a 13.5 x 13.5 in less than 20 min I have an L7
My box is 1.25 cubic ft. It rocks With a 1000 watt ppi. it does pop some times now. I dont know why? Two much power, box to small, no port I dont Know

Do you cut right down to the floor or do you stay an inch or so from the floor, (and support box from the inside)? Is there any reinforcing of the verticsal kick plate at the floor or do you just take the saw and cut?

That wall is not really a load-bearing all, so no issue cutting a hole in it.

It really depends on exactly how you want to do the enclosure, but it's always a good idea to NOT have the enclosure laying on the sole/carpet.
