what sub to be run by a kicker 700.5

I have a 10" Kicker Comp VR in a ported enclosure and it sounds good but I think a 12" would sound even better. Make sure you get the dual 4ohm voice coils so you can run a 2ohm load to the sub channel of that amp. I had the 10" running free air from the factory and just building a box made a HUGE difference in the sound.

Here's the thread on my enclosure:

      Here are my recommendations:

1 or 2 KM10's in a sealed enclosure. Have not heard these in a ported, so I cant comment on the sound, but a pair in a sealed hits pretty damn good.

Single Kicker CompVr10 4 Ohm DVC ( runs great in an infinite-baffle)

Single Kicker CompVr12 4 Ohm DVC. (runs great in sealed or ported)

The Wet Sounds XS-10FA is a great match for the power of the zx700.5, but I do not like how it sounds in a sealed box and have not even tried it in a ported. It's best suited for an infinite-baffle setup.

The XS-12 is not a bad choice either, even though it's ratings are 500 rms/1000 max.

*EDIT* One more worth looking at, but I havent had a chance to hear yet. The Exile Audio S12D.

Just something to chew on......where are you planing to install it? What size enclosure can you get there? This may play in to the decision.

it will be mouted on the drivers wall on an 03 24v. i really dont use the storage under that side so i think i have plenty of space for an enclosure. just thought you guy would know what souds best coming from this amp. any info is helpfull and appretiated

I enclosed mine and i didn't like it. I removed the enclosure from the back and filled compartment with my cheap orange lifejackets. That made it sound great and still hit hard.

I have a Rockford Fosgate, T1 12", cut into the fiberglass on the passenger side, it hits so hard that i can hear it while wakeboarding.

Are you running that Fosgate off of the 700.5?

Ok so i got a 12 inch comp vr 4 ohm dvc and i am planning the box and want to know if it matters if my port is coming out the drivers wall at the face of the speaker or if i can just port it inside the storage compartment. and how much difference will it make.

The Port adds to overall output of the sub, so you definitely want it ported out into the passenger area of the boat. Porting to the storage area would be like a sub with an incorrect enclosure size.

I just didn't want to cut a hole in the wall, it still pounds like a mofo! You do miss out on some volume by not having the vent on the front side but on the flip side, I can flip the seat cushion up and get lots of bass up front. LOL!
