Wiring a stereo remote, console to dash??

    Hello all,

I plan to wire a new remote from the stereo in the glove box to the dash area. There is currently one there that doesn't work and I would like to replace it. The wires run from the remote behind the dash, through some space where the steering cables go (I think) and come out in the locker. I cannot figure out how to run wires from the dash to the locker. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

    Thanks again!

Use the old harness to pull the new one through.

Use a fish tape. Find it at Home Depot in the electrical wiring section. I just did this the other day. I pushed the fish tape from the hole where the wires and heater hoses go in. I aimed it in the general direction as the hole under the dash where the steering cable and other wires go down. You may have to try a few times but sooner or later you will get lucky and will be able to see the tape about 6-7" below the floor on the hull with a flashlight. Now get a wire hanger, bend a little bit of a hook into it and hook the tape off the bottom of the boat through the hole under the dash. Now gently pull the tape back as you have it hooked with the hanger until you can see the tip of the tape. Then push it forward again slowly and pull up on the hanger until the tip of the tape comes out the hole. Tape a piece of 1/8 or 1/4 cord the tape and pull it back through. Now you have a cord to fish wires back and forth with. It's actually pretty EZ
