    Wet Sounds info request...

Okay - to begin, I dont have a Tige (YET!... Want one bad...) - I currently have a 06 Sea Ray 195 Wake Edition that I am looking at installing a system in. My issues:

I have plenty of experience with sealed and ported subwoofer but zero experience with free air (infinate baffle) subs - how do these perform? I am very limited on space and do not have the room under the helm like everyone else does so the XS-10FA came to mind - does this sub create good bass?

Next - does anyone know if I could install 1-2 XS-10FA's in the verticle wall under the rear seat that is basically open to the fuel/engine compartment/hull?

Next - my boat only came with 2 in-boat speakers (near driver/passenger areas) and am looking at replacing these with the XS-650's as well as adding a pair for the bow and possibly an additional pair in the rear somewhere. If this happens, what amp should I use to push the 4 or 6 in-boats and sub? Is it better to have seperate amp for mids/highs and one for sub?

Thanks everyone and again - I am jealous of all of you that have a Tige and want one in the future! I love the boats but not in a position to sell mine (which is a nice boat) and buy the Tige that I want!

    Thanks again!

    hi scott,

A free air sub is going to provide good bass when used correctly. When using a free air sub, you have to think about the area behind the sub as the enclosure. As a infinite baffle sub like the XS-10FA has the ability to play in a large enclosure. In the Tige for example, the area behind the sub is a large open cavity. But is sealed. So it still creates a enclosure. The engine area, would not give the right enclosure. It is just too open and large. I would look for an area where you can install the sub and have some sort of cavity behind it. Under the seats?

As for the amps. Sounds like a great option would be the use a single SYN-6. This amp would run all the XS-650 and a single XS-10FA or dual XS-10FA is you find the space. This is the same amp and set up that Tige installs at the factory. SYN-6 running 3 pairs of XS-650 and a single XS-10

If you can upload some pics, we can see if there are some otions to mount the sub

Per Tim's comments, I am running a SYN-6 to drive six XS-650s and two XS-10FA subs (along with a SYN-2 driving a pair of Pro-80s and MB-8s on the tower).

Tim - thanks so much for the response. I will try to get some pics so that you can see what I am explaining... Just looked through the pics that I have now and none really show the cockpit very well...

Tim - the first few pics here of the red/white boat are pics of my boat. The rest of the pics are some that I found on the web that somewhat show the interior. Let me know if you have any other questions/comments...

That's gonna be tough boat to do a sub install. In the 9th pic. what is the height of the seat base under the back bench and what does the storage look like under the seats? if you could snap a pic of that area and get some dimensions, that will help. I think your best bet will be a 10" in an enclosure.

              Thanks chpthril for responding...

The rear seat cushions come all the way off but there is no storage under them - the fiberglass is flat. I have attached a few pics (again, not my boat) showing an option that they are "NOW" doing on the newer models - however, mine looks exactly like this minus the "coolers" - just flat.

Off topic - actually thought about DIY'ing this cooler mod myself.

Basically - from the engine compartment side, it is completely open all the way to the backside of this "vertical wall"...
