    WS-420

I'm going to check with my stereo guy next week, but checking in here as well first. I can hear a distinctive hissing sound from the speakers when I turn all volume knobs (tower, main deck, sub) on the WS-420 down to zero or the Ipod is getting ready for the next song or some real quiet part of a current song. Ideas? That's the way it is?

I forgot to check the HU volume setting as well, so I am going to go back that next time.

Secondary question, unrelated to above I think: Is there an optimum set of volume settings between HU volume and WS-420 volume? After install, the HU was set to 3/4, and the WS-420 volumes were to be set to the listening level you liked, theoretically so you would not have to adjust the HU volume at all.

    Thanks.

(Chpthril: back on line after a couple of months, owe you a PM to let you know how the rest of the upgrade went. Hint: great!)

Glad to hear things are going well. Hows the voltage gauge holding out, still steady?

With the addition of a line driver, such as the WS-420, can simply amplify what is already there, so what you are hearing is perfectly normal. If it's annoying enough, I would say dial the gains down just a hair, this will probably resolve it.

Yes, the WS-420 will become the master volume, so the Head-unit can be left at the 3/4 volume mark.

...also gotta make sure the RCA cables don't run right by power wires.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I had the same problem. Thought it might be because I ran my RCAs to close to a power wire. Turned out to be a bad RCA.

How old is your 420? Does it have the gain adjustments on top?

PM sent. Voltage issue resolved with: New Alternator - now at 14.5 Volts. And new throttle actuator: Lynwood Motoplex Tige Dealer and Rick Correll, President of Tige, both played huge parts in this issue that started cropping up in May '09. Huge thanks to both Rick and Lynwood Motoplex (Cory - service and John - Tech). Tige service in the NW has never been better.

Can't take credit for even the idea. That was all Sandy at www.Rhodesrides.com. Looks even better when looking at it from the seat. This photo was kind of shot from a low angle.

The hissing trouble. What was causing it. I'm having a similar issue. I have it only happening with my tower speakers though. I have a jk audio mhd600 amp . Maybe I should turn the amp gain down?

Looking into adjustment of the amp gains to fix the hissing. Talked with my audio guy Sandy today, and it's going back for him to take a look at.
