Hey guys. Here are some pics of the wake pods we did on our friends Tige'. They each house a pair of Hertz HI-Energy HCX690 speakers. Running off of an Audison SRX2s Amplifier.
Yeah they stay really tight. The mount that we used, has steps of smaller teeth, for smaller diameter tubing. As far as the sound, 50-60 feet, they are right in your face. These things have a ton of power on them, no problem with getting out even further if need be.
Great job on those "pods"!!! How do you think those speakers will hold up to the elements if left outside for a few months? What about the wakepods? Not bashing, I'm just curious because I've thought about making some pods for like an 8" subs to put up there out of glass like that but wasn't sure if they would hold up to the weather or not. Did you use automotive paint on them or ?
On the speakers, and mind you the fingers are still crossed, we've had great luck with the Hertz product, indoors, and out. The owner is close enough we can monitor them, and keep watch over how they react over time.
The pods are glassed, sanded, poly-primed, sanded, and then primed/painted/cleared with PPG automotive paint. They are a really great shell, and the speakers are sealed off to the surface with gasket, to prevent moisture, etc...from entering the cavity.
Hopefully these will endure the elements well. I believe they will.
