    KMT6 Speakers Cutting out

I saw a lot of threads on stuff like this and I haven't been able to pinpoint my exact problem so I thought I would start with a simple thread..

I have two KMT6's powered by a 450.2zx kicker amp... The cabin speakers and sub are all powered by a separate 700.5zx kicker amp. My problem is that the towers keep cutting out only at certain times...usually when the boat is running.... when the boat is idling or simply off the speakers work fine... i looked underneath the stereo where the amps are kept and I can see the 450.2zx is powering on and off while the 700.5zx is staying on... Both the amps come directly off of the battery through a circuit breaker and a distributer box near the amps.. hopefully im making sense.

I do have two older batteries in the boat that probably need replacing as they are from 2005 but I don't think they are the issue... because if the system works during a stand still or at idle shouldn't it work when the boat is in motions as well?

My other issue revolves around the distortion heard through the tower speakers while the boat is turned on. When it is off you can't hear it of course.. It is not horrible but something that I wish could be fixed.

Any help will be appreciated... I hope everyone is enjoying their 4th of July... I unfortunately am in the Military and have to work for all you celebrating our Independence.. so rock on and drink a beer for me.. preferably Yuengling...

I would first just double check the x-over filter and frequency setting on the zx450.2. "Hi-Pass" and about 100Hz. Also make sure the head-unit's eq settings are flat or off. Not sure what head-unit you have, but make sure the RCA output is NOT set for a sub and if the level is adjustable, make sure it all the way up.

    Thanks for working today

I have the CMD4A head unit and all of the settings are flat... where does the power switch need to be as well.. i think it says 12+ V, DC, and one other setting... not sure about the RCA output.. pretty sure I have two outputs... One front and one rear... the front has the cabin speakers/Sub, i think... and the rear output has the tower speakers.. i think.. lol.. not positive but i believe this is how it is wired.. weird thing is it worked fine the first couple times out but I was messing with the setting since then so maybe i set the HZ too high??? who knows.. trying to head out tomorrow afternoon so I will give her a look in the morning.. any more info will be great.. thanks CHPthril.. always coming through my man..
