First off we have a switch that turns the power to the stereo on and off. We have a Rockford Fosgate RFX9220M head unit and we are having an issue that when we turn the swith on the deck will illuminate but nothing will power up. The amps do not turn on, the fans do not turn on, there are no numbers (clock) on the screen of the headunit and when we hit the power button on the stereo nothing happens.
The kicker is this, if I play with it enough and unplug the harness from the back of the unit it will reset its self sometimesand start to work, sometimes the stereo will work for a while and sometimes not even a full song.
I am thinking either the head unit is going out. Or its a low voltage issue. We have 3 optima blue tops powering the boat, but I put a new battery in the boat for yesterdays trip and hooked up to of the + wires for the main switch to one battery and the stereo was connected directly to the new battery and the new battery wasnt hooked to the alternator. The stereo worked great for a few hours but then stopped workin. then I hooked up the battery and got the stereo workin again but it was short lived.
just wondering if anyone has ever experienced anything like this.
