? about how speakers are setup, 2017 Z3

Hi all, have a question that hopefully won't make me look stupid. I'm trying to understand my current setup better so that I can figure out how I want to make better.

I have the stock DSP setup, and I'm having the normal issues (clipping at low volumes, weird sounds when the amps get warm later in the day).

When I look at the main amp, I see 4 channels worth of wires, plus the sub that is bridged on channels 5 and 6. Then I have the second amp that is for the towers, just 2 Rev10's.

I have 5 in boat speakers though, plus the sub? 2 in the bow, 2 under the seats, and 1 under the helm next to the sub -- how/where is that 5th speaker wired up?

Your boat should have six (6) cabin speakers, so look around closer.

None the less. Bow speakers are on chnls 1 and 2. Port aft pair wired in parallel on chnl 3 and STBD aft pair in parallel on chnl 4.

The issues you are experiencing are not normal, as in built into the design, and are sings of a failure. I would approach this from a diagnostic stand point rather than an upgrade stand point. ALL of your issues could be completely external of the audio and still be there after substantial equipment swaps.

Now, there can be some performance improvements by moving away from the OEM DSP amps, BUT thats only when EVRYTHING else is working as it should.

Thank you sir, apologies for the ignorance on that one, honestly didn’t know about parallel wiring on speakers. Always appreciate your wisdom on here!

Is there any way I can test the Murphy system upstream to know if it’s an issue before the amps, to approach it systematically as you recommend? I’d rather not take a shotgun approach of course. A little better tuning to my personal taste would be nice, not trying to maximize anything or rock the whole lake by any means; I’d hate to do that if the issue is upstream though.
