    Help want better sound

Hello, I need advice...! I have a 2014 Tigé R20 with the original Wet Sound speakers and a Clarion Subwoofer 10 inches 4 ohm 180 watts RMS. The radio is a Clarion radio that also seems original. There is an amplifier under the driver dash, its an old 4-channel Boss Amp, not sure if its original equipement…!

Today, I added two speakers in the tower today. It's 6.5-inch Roswell RMA6510 75 Watts RMS 4 ohm in the Unison Classic pods.

Last summer when I put the music too loud the sound was distorted and sometimes the sound stopped coming out of the speakers and I had to turn the radio off and on again. As for my subwoofer, it pushed practically nothing.

For the next summer, I would like to have a beautiful loud and clear sound.

What do you recommend to me? Should I use the current Boss amplifier for the subwoofer only and buy another amplifier for the 4 Wet Sound speakers and the 2 Roswell?

    Thanks

I would install a 5 channel amplifier for the four (4) cabin speakers subwoofer. I would then repurpose the existing Boss 4 chnl and run the new tower pods bridged on it.

With that said, the issues with the existing system could be a result of a handful things. Too low of an impedance on one or more chnls can put an amp into protect mode. Too much load can cause an amp to run hot and go into protect mode. Low supply voltage can be an issue. All of this needs to be looked into before adding equipment or reconfiguring the system. If not, the issue may still be there.

Today I did some checks in my boat. The original 4 speakers are only provided by the radio without any other amplifier, so the Boss amplifier was only used for the subwoofer. I guess that's why my sound was very poor.

I will do the 5 channel for cabin speaker and sub and the Boss Amp for the tower!

Can I pass a 4 AWG wire from my battery(back of the boat) to a junction box under the front passenger seat and connect my amplifiers from that box there?

The port side mid-ship locker is the best spot for the amplifiers. The factory even makes the area for the amps.

As to any specific gauge cabling, that would depend on the actual amplifiers and their specs. 4ga would likely be fine for one amp, but a little too light for mike liking, to supply additional amps.
