Avoid Liquid Nail for your amp racks fellas!

Apparently Liquid Nail must have changed substantially, b/c I just used some to glue up some Trex boards to my hull as I'm redoing my amp rack. I Ran some 2x4's across to the wall Tige has set-up for your amps, to wedge them in and give a good bond with the glue. I came back 4 days later and NOTHING was holding. I removed the wedges and could slide the boards with ease! Admittedly, we've had some high humidity lately, but 4 days should have been enough to cure I would think. It did not bond the Fiberglass AT ALL! When I pulled the board off, the glue all stuck to the board and none stuck to the fiberglass.

Being the weekend I was limited to where I could go. So next I'm trying some PL375. I'm kind of worried about the 375 not getting hard enough though. I couldn't find 400 like I would have liked to use. Guess we'll see what happens! If this doesn't work, I guess it's onto Epoxy (gorilla glue).

Really trying to avoid fiberglassing the damn things in. Blah!

I know the 375 shear strengths are as listed

    Steel - 77.31
    Aluminum - 70.44
    PVC - 53.97
    Wood - 116.84

That SHOULD be more than enough, even if the bond is along the lines of the PVC. Should be alot stronger... but you just never know. Guess we'll see how quick it cures. Only giving it 2 days... if it doesn't set by then, then It's coming out too. Running out of time!

JB Weld man- that stuff could glue a tanker to sandbar!
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

You guys missed the fact that I don't want to use an Epoxy or fiberglass for that matter! I want to be able to rip this out if ever need be! So I have my reasoning for not using Epoxy right off the bat! Actually I would have used Bondo Glass had I used anything like that.

But the 375 held great! I got everything cut today, now my port side cubby hole exterior wall is solid amp rack, floor to ceiling! No exposed fiberglass anymore Just solid marine plywood to screw to! FINALLY! I wish tige would figure out that 95% of us want our amps on that outside wall.... not the inside wall! Now I just gotta carpet, route my wiring, set up my relays and LEDS, and done!
