Head unit swap

I have a Clarion CMD 6 in my ‘14 RZR. If I swap to another head unit such as a Wet Sounds, would I lose the remote functions of the touch screen?

Yes, wired remotes and the touch screen protocol are proprietary. If the existing unit and remotes have an 8-pin connector, a current model Clarion will work. However, I do not think the TT will communicate with a newer clarion.

What are you looking to gain out of a new head unit? If it were me I would add a WS 420BT zone controller which is great to be able to control tower, sub and in boats independently from the drivers seat.

The Clarion is complex to manipulate, I have to breakout the manual when I want to change settings, the Wet Sounds is very intuitive. I wouldn’t mind adding the WS 420 either.

we were similar.
in our '12 I hated that the hu is tied into tigetouch so we added a second round puck at the helm just above the throttle and wired the clarion deck off a separate on/off switch. this allowed us to power the unit without tt being one. didn't have 420 but had exile's similar unit and once we installed that I only used the puck to select tracks. all adjustments came off the exile unit.

our '14 z3 had a completely redone stereo that used a JL audio head and we absolutely hated it. puck at the dash was not user friendly and the unit was super laggey when running off usb drives. clarion pucks were 10x better.
