Hey guys!
I am installing a couple of Alpine Marine amps and a Stinger capacitor in my boat (a 2000 Tige 22i). I am interested to see how others have mounted amps and if you have built any type of racks or covers for the mounting locations.
I have two concerns:
1). Where I am going to put the amps (closest to the batteries and stereo) is where EVERYONE stores their gear in the boat (behind the observer's seat)
2). I want to make sure the amps stay dry, cool, and don't get hit a lot by loose gear.
Right now one of my amps, an Alpine PDX 100.4 marine, is back enroute to Alpine for repairs. It started hissing badly
My thought on a design is to mount everything on a board that is fastened to the outside, or hull side, of the compartment. I have been looking for plexiglass that I can mount over the top of the amps and capacitor with some "cooling space" for protection. To keep air movement in the compartment I am considering a blower fan with hose run down the port wall to bring in fresh air.
Your thoughts and pictures are GREATLY appreciated
