Problem with yellow wire on HU?

So I was running the HU in the boat and it wasn't running off the normal setup..all of the speakers and wires were fine except for the yellow wire which I believe is wired through the ignition. Anyhow.. I was wondering if I could use the power wired for the HU to the yellow as well??? When I did this it worked but I didn't know if it was necessary for the yellow to go through the ignition or what... also what would cause the yellow memory wire to go bad. Near the end of last summer is when my heater core went out and got everything wet under my dash... Thus the stereo went out... Working on wiring the tower speaker for a metacraft tower and was wondering how you get the wire to the stereo compartment afet you get it wired through the tower to the base where it is bolted on the fiberglass. I was also trying to run the wire both towards the passengar side of the boat but i keep getting hung up on something.. It doesn't make sense because I was able to go through the tower with speaker wire bothe ways with no problems...once I get like 3 inches from either hole the wire stops... any suggestions? I will browse the search are and see what I find! Thx... What is up CHPthrill?? I figured you would probably read this...

I use a hanger straightened out. I just keep jabbing and jabbing and jabbing---eventually you'll find the hole. One time I had to drill a small hole near my clog and do a section of the tower at a time, then I capped the hole with a nice black rubber plug from Menard's.

It's a pain, but keep trying you'll get it.

Can't help ya with the yellow wire, sorry
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
