    Bluetooth Ipod connection

have been thinking of a better way to connect an Ipod to the stereo as I am sick of always having to go over to the glove box to change a track and have not been impressed with decks that offer a direct ipod connection.

i purchased the anycom bar-10 and connected it up for a trial and it works great. You will also need a bluetooth transmitter for your ipod and i went with the sony one. great thing is that you can throw the ipod with transmitter in a waterproof bag offering full control of the stereo will hanging out on the back of the boat. I have also used the anycom bluetooth receiver in my truck and it allows me to stream pandora internet radio from my blackberry.

next step is to solder a small antenna on the bluetooth transmitter to greatly increase the range which is just under 10m at the moment.

Being an 08, i'm assuming it has a Clarion CMD5 head unit, unless you or you dealer installed something different. I'll also venture to guess that when you say "direct Ipod connection" you are talking about an AUX input that uses the 3.5mm headphone jack. I will agree that the quality is not the best. Many head units now offer a USB plug for interfacing MP3's, and Clarion offers an Ipod interface, the CCAIPOD, that is a true direct connect device, as it plugs into the data port of the Ipod and then into the Clarion Cnet connector on the back of the unit. This can be extended over the the drivers side for easy operation as well as it will charge the ipod.
