    5 1/4 Speaker ?

HI guys, anyone have any suggestions on a good set of 5 ¼” speakers for my 22I. I currently have two sets of Rockford Fosgate car speakers that are 60 watts rms/ 120 watts peak/ 4ohm. I really don’t want to put bigger speakers in because I prefer not to have to make any extra cuts to the haul. Thanks guys.

Is that 5-1/4" the cutout or the speakers advertised cone size? We can find you a speaker, just need to know the dia of the hole.

They are cutouts for standard 6" speakers. I had to add an extra 1/2" to get my 6.5" wetsounds to fit on my boat.

measure the holes; double check that dimension. 6" is really big for a spekaer cutout hole. Most have an acutal hole between 5" and 5 1/4"

You are right I just measured, the 5 ¼” fit really tight the holes are cut for 5 ¼” speakers. So any suggestions on what I should buy. Thanks again.

wait a minute... what is the actual diameter of the hole?

              A 5 1/4 fits a smaller hole than 5 1/4

I think we may all be a little confused. Just to be sure, lets forget about what size the manufacturer "bills" them out as. In my short time in this game, I've any where from .25-.75 in. differences between required hole size of speakers that are advertized as the same size speaker. So, if the hole in the boat is XXX, the we can make a handful of suggestions on that, based on what will fit. Clear as mud now

Right, but the standard cut-outs on a Tige are 5 1/4" and designed to fit most 6" speakers. You're right on about the requirements varying. I think the Wetsounds I installed required 5 7/8".

Ok, I will re-measure the whole size, when I get home. I have now completely confused myself. I know that the 51/4” Rockford I have fit somewhat tight in the current hole.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to everyone. my dogs got super sick and they spent a few days at the vet. anyway the hole size is 5 inchs.

The Kicker KM6200 and KM6130 have a 5-1/8" cutout, so they are right there and would be my first choice. Next would be the KS600's, they have a 5" cutout. The DS600's need a 4-3/16 hole, but I believe they will fit.

There's a couple for starters, got a few more sources, just have to pull out my catalogs and look.
