    What do I need

Ok I am replacing my FOUR in boat speakers with I think Kicker 6.5 inch speaker (suggestions on in boat speakers are welcome I just want them LOUD!!) I am also putting in a wetsounds XS-12 sub on my driver kick panel. What amp do I need to get to run my four speakers and sub that will make them sound nice. Im pricing a kicker mx700.5 channel amp on ebay for $350. Is this enough power for what I need??

Im on a budget and this is all I want to run from this amp. Im gonna add another amp later when I add tower speakers....probably next season!

The MX700.5 is a real workhorse, it's a great fit for so many setups.

For your 4 cabin speakers, it will put out 70 watts rms to each. For the sub, a couple things to keep in mind. 1st, you're gonna need to build an enclosure for a 12". Space will dictate the size of the enclosure and in turn, the internal volume will have a huge bearing on the subs out put and sound quality. 2nd, be sure to go with a 4ohm DVC 12" so you will get the most, 420 watts rms @ 2ohms, from the sub chnl of the mx700.5.

What mids are you looking at? May I recommend the KM6200's. Also take a peak at the Kicker Comp Vr 12" sub. Either way, you wont be disappointed.

You may not know, but Wet Sounds has a new 6.5 mid coming out, the SS-65. A budget friendly version of the xs-650.

The Wet Sounds Syn4 could take care of the 2 pairs of SS-65's, receiving 100 watts ea, and the xs-12-D2, receiving 400 watts.

From what I understand the wetsounds sub is an open air sub. So I think I would just cut the hole on the kick panel and set it in....I dont need to put it in a box right??

The XS-10 FA can be used in a "free air" setup, or with an enclosure, but the 12 requires and enclosure. I wouldn't hesitate one bit to recommend the xs-10 FA. Give it the same 400+ watts and it really pounds for a 10. I've done quite a few in this very matter.

I mounted them in the dry locker, 2 on the kick panel and one on the other side. I ran a 2/0 power & ground to a distribution block inside the locker and used 4 gauge from there to each amp.

If you take the door off, it makes it a lot easier to work, although it's still tight quarters if you're a big guy.

If you do install a sub and it's a free-air application, then I'd suggest porting the locker so there's air movement. You can get up underneath the dash to create the port. It makes the sub much louder also.

Ok I am going to go with the wetsounds free air 10" sub. And the kicker mx700.5 amp and I believe 4 kicker km625.2 speakers. This sound like a good start?

You will love the sound of the KM625.2's. Just understand you will have to cut a separate hole for the tweeters.

                    interior speakers

Ok so i may be a little late to chime in but i had the Kicker's that came with my 2006 Tige 22v and had them replaced with Focal Polyglass 165 V1 and wow what a difference. i used the same amp and with the focals i could dial up the power and tune it right. the focals tweeters are not as harsh as i have read in online post about them and they are clean and crisp. i liked the kickers that came with the boat but after installing and listening to the focals would not put any other mids in anything i own .... as long as i could afford the focals (3 pair got a deal for like $1050 total)
