I had a dodge intrepid with the 3.5l engine. That car just ran and ran. Biggest repair was the water pump. It had 217k+ miles on it when i got a toyota camry with a v6 that never rode anywhere near as nice as the intrepid and the gas mileage was almost the same. The seating in the camry was not as comfortable. Never was real happy with it. Had a 1999 GMC Yukon 4x4. Great SUV and very reliable. Good hard pulling suv. Now its the Duramax. What a machine. Absolutely great. Also had a 77 olds cutlass supreme. Great car. Have a toyota highlander and its ok nothing to write home about. It sure is easy to get gm /ford parts also. that is my
You do have a nice vet!
I really think its all in the buyer. I think my german cars ride so much better and quieter then any american car, while you think the oppoisite. Each to his own pretty much.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

the thing is really up to the buyer. I will say that american's know trucks, but cars, I beg to differ. I have not had as good as experience with domestic cars as gman has, but that does not make him right or me wrong. It's really just up to the person. I know my S5 costs more to drive, but man is it fun to drive, just like Sparky says. My vette is a blast to drive too. SO it's all just up to the driver I think. My brother hates domestic cars except for HP, other then that all he has is Imports, my step bro's are the same, domestic trucks, import cars.
I really just don't know if there is a clear winner here.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

I wonder what they mean by quality? It might be better quality in the initial purchase, but down the road what is the reliability? I keep my cars for 10 years. I have personally owned two toyotas over 350,000 miles each. I sold them still running, dependably, with the original drive trains intact. I did not have the same experience with my domestic vehicles as gman is having.

I wonder if that 100,000 mile warranty isn't what hurts their bottom line. It is a obviously a sales tactic to build confidence in the consumer, but a liability to the possible repairs needed to maintain the vehicles between 60 - 100K miles.
I am a roofing contractor. I had a customer who owned a lot of commercial properties. We had a good relationship with this elderly owner. He would always get another bid when it came time to put a new roof on one of his buildings. On this particular building the other contractor got the better of us on price. The owner became worried once the job had started and paid us to evaluate the other contractors work. He trusted us. Of course the workmanship was well below average. After voicing our concerns to the owner, the other contractor assured the owner his work was good and he would give him a 20 year warranty to help put his mind at ease. Sometime later the new roof was leaking, the contractor gone, no warranty, an apology from the owner and more work for me.
Sorry for the long story and I'm NOT saying GM or any other car manufacturers are making bad products. From that personal experience, I learned that by extending a warranty on a product doesn't always make it better, just provides more security for the consumer as long as the company is there to deliver.
Like spenchey2, I am more interested in well after any warranty is over. 200-300K range. Spend your money on what you think is best and works for you.Mike Allen, Tigé owner since 1997

2. I might be wrong but I think the warranty is automatic transfer. Maybe a signature or too, but nothing major. I'm not sure though, maybe there is someone on here that does know for sure.

I beleive the preception also equates to resale value...
Wife was in an accident, our vehicle (Toyota) was 'total loss.' When we replaced the vehicle, I looked at resale values based on what I learned from the accident. Even if you do not elect to sell or trade, if the vehicle is a 'total loss' that is money lost in my opinion depending how the vehicle rates in the market.

2, I was told it's not an automatic and if you don't do it in x number of days, it's a no go. SOrry u loose. But that's just what they told me.
I have no problem waiting in line, but I won't leave my car outside in the ghetto where the dealer is, sorry not leaving a 70+k car outside. I told them I would leave it for a day, they said no good, so I just said LJ(*U_PHLKJ off. oh well. no worries.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!
