Hey, you said you liked to geek out on this stuff...I'm just arming you with ideas
There is a drive-in around here that does that.

My current house, we live in an area with where there is a lot more room between houses, and my driveway goes down, so my house is below street level, which you can see in the pics. Which is great, I can CRANK it, and no one cares. But I had these speakers when I lived in Simi Valley in a 1200 square foot house. I had the cops come once, not because of excessive noise. They came because people thought we were in trouble, we were cranking TWISTER, and it sounded very real outside, pretty funny. Tough to go from that to FM stereo!

        That's a cool set up.

I've got a 96" screen that I have setup in my basement. The company I work for also gave me another projector to use for presentations when I travel. Since it's portable, we reverse the image and put it in the garage, hook it to a DirectTV HD receiver, and shine it through a queen size white sheet. We have Shrimp boils while watching College football. It's a great time. You'd be surprised how good HD looks through a sheet...

Beware on the Harmony's. The new ones out have some issues. The device will not work correctly with some of my devices. I put it back in the box and will sell on ebay.
If its not fun, Why do it?

I have the harmony 890 - for non IR components. the range is about a foot if it works at all. When I do an update - the remote hangs. The device does not charge without me watching over it. There is something about the charging station that does not allow it to charge correctly.

Mine almost had a big dent in the corner but I decided not to throw it so it was not damaged.

Hmm. I think mine's the IR version of that. I do know it has to sit on the charging station just right to charge. The charging station has to be completely level.

I would take it back or contact Logitech. They are usually pretty good about supporting their products.

Projectors FTW!! I have been using a HD projector in my basement for 4 years now. I agree that it PUMMELS going to the Theatres for sure!! Football games in HD on a 120" screen win fatly. Also, its a blast to play video games on. As soon as football season is over, Wii season begins and a few of my buddies and I play Tiger Woods every thursday night on the Wii. Tis a blast!!

We had some friends over, and the kids wanted to play rock band, it was very cool watching on the big screen, so I took a couple of pics.

Cool! When I was in LA at a Microsoft event, they invited me to a party where they had Guitar hero games going where the screen was projected onto the side of a building from well over 100' away. The image was literally 75'. It was pretty cool

I guess there is no excuse for saying that you can't see which note would be next. Looks like a ton of fun.

My winter project is finishing the basement and I am adding a theater room. Some home theater questions for you guys...

Are you happy with the projector set-up? Any issues or lessons learned?

What would you consider the best value for home theater speakers? Would you go with a out of the box system (been looking at KEF and Klipsch)? Any strong thoughts on in-wall speakers?

My walls are framed, but I still have a great deal of flexibility. Any other ideas or things I should consider?

                                Thanks in advance.
