Deer Pics since it's deer season - - Matt Inspired

It's that time of the year and matt got me worked up. Figured some of you guys would enjoy some pics from my ranch. Ive got alot better pics of alot bigger deer but I had them printed out already and deleted them from the memory card.

First pic is my trophy wall at my hunting cabin I built, all these deer scored over 170 gross. The top deer just missed 200 NET. All these deer came off my ranch EXCEPT for the top deer and the deer directly below him on the right.... they came off the King Ranch.

The middle pics are last years pics from my game camera. None of these deer on the game camera pics are over 3 1/2. The biggest 8pt is barely 2 in these pics. I removed the 6 pt from the gene pool, last year as a management buck. I don't know how he made it this far w/o being removed by me, but he made it to 7 1/2 and had a 27" inside spread with 8" brow tines. Unfortunately for me I've already found two 2 1/2 y/o bucks that are his offspring.... he has a very unique rack, and his offspring have the exact same character.

The last pic is my favorite trophy. 24" inside spread 183 1/8 B/C NET. 3/8" total deductions. The depressing part for me was he was only 3 1/2. At the time I hadn't bought up the surrounding land and didn't have a major management program going on... so I didn't know how old he was.

Ok.... NVM.... I'll have to add the game camera pics in the morning.... I apparently need to resize them all to make them work. I'll get on it tomorrow and post them up.

Nice Tanner! I didn't know you were an avid hunter. Those bucks are very nice!

          Where is your ranch at?

Yep... Actually I think I've posted up about this time of year, for the last two years, about going hunting. One was about the King Ranch.

My main hunting ranch that I manage hard core is in Western, OK in Rogers Mills county.

Me and my father own another cattle ranch, that the deer hunting is ok on in Breckenridge, TX.

I'll post up the field camera pics this evening once I have time to resize them.

I just saw this and it made me think of this and matt's thread.

              http://www.rockymountainnews.com/new...-who-shot-him/

I don't hunt, would like to, just never have gotten around to it, but have always thought of deer as more timid animals. Then I moved up here, and on occasion, have had a giant buck grazing on my lawn. When you see them up close, they are pretty damn bada$$. This time of year, we have to drive very careful, and I stay off my motorcycle due to the extra dear.

LOL - The first comment on that story made me laugh.

Two rounds in the head? Little overkill huh? So much for taking it to the taxidermist.

Kinda reminds you of that Monty Python skit where they hunt mosquitos with bazookas and machine guns, then try to skin them with a machete.
