Well, I've been burning the midnight oil on the four cars. The electric Rustler is a new beast. Fully re-powered with a Team Orion Formula SV2 10x1 motor, Novak Super Rooster ESC and two Team Orion 3300 Super Duty batts. All that for $155, all Christmas money! Everything has been re-plugged with Deans. I think I'm going to have to change the name from Rustler to Hustler.

The Nitro Rustler is still going, but it seems every time I run it, something else breaks. That's the deal I guess. What do you want for free? Had to put an Easy Start on it as the pull starter spring snapped. What a POS set up. Weighs a ton and the glow plug wire is a joke. No juice running through that thing. With a good glow igniter, the "system" works good for starting but, that's it. I'm trying to keep it alive with no money invested so, there you go. Easy start was in the box new so...

I took the purple CEN down to a bare chassis and found that the motor mount had only three of the four bolts in it. On it's last run-away into a curb, it managed to bend the one unattached corner of the motor mount up nearly 3/8 of an inch. Tried to scavenge one of the older CEN but, all the screw heads have been shaved off. So I pulled it straightened it out as best I could and put it back in. Actually lines up just fine down. Needs a glow plug and its RTR.

The older CEN is currently under transformation to a dirt oval car. I pulled the 4WD set up out, belts, gears, axels, all that in order to turn it into a 2WD roundy-round. Just need a body for it.

We've got a bunch of people headed down to Rescue, CA. this week to hit the track. I'm taking the camera in order to get some action shots (finally). A buddy of mine has no less the 6 (I think it's more like 8 or 9) brand new Nitro trucks, buggies and truggies that he is breaking in right now in order to get them ready for track day. Complete opposite from me as I'm out less than $50 on misc. items and cleaning supplies where as he is in nearly $15K.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Finally some action shots. We had no less than 20 cars to run yesterday and managed to run most of them. Didn't break anything major in 7 hours of running hard, just 2 bit parts. Good times were had by all.

Looks good nickypoo. Thanks for sharing.
Here is my weekend RC story. Sorry no pics and I am glad there are none. I charged up 4 battery packs and off to the track I went to practice with the electric trucks. The nitro trucks need a few more items before they are ready. Little did I know they had just laid down some water on the track. Went to the drivers stand and began driving the truck. Not much punch left in the 12 year old nicads. After a few laps I decided to try to jump the table top, made it about 3/4 and landed with a thunk. In the next turn I saw we had an issue. The front bulk head broke so the truck is basically in two pieces. I climbed off the drivers stand to go get my truck. I got onto the track and was stepping over a little jump when I slipped on the wet clay and went down hard. ( do not wear flip flops at an rc track. No traction) Threw out my back. Been on muscle relaxants since saturday. to add insult to injury the following occurred.
I got my truck and placed it on the pit table. There was a little bit of water on the truck. I was wiping off the mud off my backside when 1/2 my truck took off on the table with the speed control smoking. Moisture got into the speed control and shorted it out. It is ruined. I had just sold my back up on ebay I should have disconnected the electronics. By the way, the truck weighed a ton with all the mud on the tires and chassis.

Oh well , hopefully next week the gas trucks will fare better at the track. If I am moving by then
            Let it be!!!

That sucks xp. I almost wiped out a few times the other day. Wet clay is dangerous!

I ended up blowing out all 4 wheel bearings in the rear of my Rusty. I think the combo of tons of power, little tiny bearings and gobs of clay stuck to the tires just destroyed them. New bearing carriers and bearings (5x11 big daddys), new stub axels and new camber links in the works.

How ya feelin' xp? hopefully better.

I gave all the nitro stuff back to it's rightful owner. Damn them things are dirty. Been tryin' focus on my one electric Rusty. Got it all back together with the revised suspension (new camber links, bearing carriers, caster blocks, shock towers) and blew the new motor up before I even got it back on the dirt. The guys at Team Orion already sent me a new one to replace it though. In the mean time, I had the guys down at the shop check out my old Fantom 27t. It would get to 4v and basically shut down. Not sure what he did to fix it, but it is screaming now. Suspension and balance of this little car is working great. A little time and effort goes a long way I guess. Got some work to do on the gearing but other than that, it might actually be competitive on the track, if we had one. It's currently being rebuilt for the '09 season. They are adding a 16* dirt oval as well as a new lay out for the off road track

Back still has a kink. Heading out to havasu Friday. I plan to run the gas trucks. I need to get some tx packs as I do not trust the 14 year old nicads. I will have some action pics hopefully

I'd love to go Lipo but, don't have the $ at the moment. I'm pretty happy with my Team Orion 3300's. 2 for $60 at Tower.

Got to run the Rusty on Sunday with my Pops. First time I got to get some action shots. I was shooting with his camera and its quite a bit different from mine and I couldn't get it off of auto so, the pics aren't great but, there OK.

I got me a new ride. Traxxas Nitro 4-tec 2.5. This thing literally fell into my lap. Not bad for a freebee. It's actually a lot cleaner than it looks in the pictures. The only thing I've found wrong with it is a bent upper A-arm. Other than that it is good to go. I'm turning this thing into a 1/10 scale Late model. A new body and some new tires and I'll have a fast little dirt oval car. Already got the new shoes and the new suit should be here tomorrow.

oooh, I had a nitro! Tons of fun. I sold it to
The kid down the street though...he promptly managed to get it run over in the street...can't stop stupid.

Thinking about r/c planes now, but no experience in that. I just want to buzz the neighbors cat....and maybe the kid too.

As usual, TA is all over it. Thanks for the heads up.

Update: Project Late Model is almost ready. Got rid of that damn EZ start. Replaced it with a Roto Start. Put a sway bar kit in. Body is just about done. Had to fab up an exhaust deflector last night. I hogged out an a old drive shaft from my Rusty and trimmed it up. Couldn't have fit any better. Gonna knock out the front and rear windows and fab up a piece of lexan to run the entire length of the interior.
