For those of you that don't think that it will affect you, how about when your kids come home confused about what marriage is because they teach it in your schools? In my opinion, we are going into uncharter waters here, because no one in this country has seen the long term effects of children being raised by gay couples. If you want a glimpse of what can happen however, check into what is happening in other parts of the world.

The fact is no one can foresee the effects of this supreme court decision (that is the governments involvement), prop 8 is not more government, it is making it so that government can't change the rules. Like they like to do.

No one can take that old "as long as its not in my backyard" attitude anymore. Look where it has gotten us.

How about when they want to take your guns or tax you into poor house to pay for these government mandates.

X2 and don't be affraid to do it. Most of us on here are not affraid of much so vote for what is morally right not what is popular. The judges on the bench need to have a message sent that they are not legislatures and the voice of the people. they are there to enforce the voice of the people not make our decisions for us.

Well, having a few friends that have alternative life styles and would rather see them happy, I voted No on Prop 8. What this does:

                    1) Provides additional $$'s for marriage licenses in the county
                    2) Provides additional $$'s for divorces also
                    3) Gives them every right as a normal married couple
                    4) Reduces the government over sight
                    5) Reduces marriage enforcements of women to men
                    6) Helps to remove discrimination

Maybe not the best reasons above but the people that I know that live the alternate life styles are not the extreme gay people like the pictures here have displayed or over on WW.

                      1. The County already gets that money when they register as domestic partners.
                      2. Additional money can be available when the "domestic partnership" is dissolved.
                      3. They already have the same rights as a normal married couple it was granted to them a couple of years ago (by the fact that you mentioned "normal married couple" does that infer that they are "not normal", yes your right, it is not normal)
                      4. Putting the definition of marriage does not create more government oversight, on the contrary it removes government oversight. Therefore voting yes removes Government oversight.
5 What is marriage enforcements of women to men mean. That is the way it is suppose to be a man and a woman.
                      6. This is not a discrimination issue.

Okay, if not discrimination, why aren't they allowed to marry? There is no difference between marriage and domestic partnership IMO. If the government says that a man and a woman can only marry, that is discrimination.

Again, I think this is an major issue because of religion. Church and State are not to be one per the constitution.

I think this is about the people asking the Gov to protect the sanctity of Marriage as a religious union of a man and a woman. IMO, to vote no, is a vote for the State to recognize Domestic Union and Marriage as the same thing, therefore tearing down the Separation of Church and State

I'm sorry this prop has nothing to do with schools. It got sideswipped by some cleaver ad person. It still comes down to how you raise your children. If your depending on schools to raise your kids your screwed all ready IMO.

I have many friends that choose the alternative life style and they are happy so let them be happy. I know I'm happy with Carley. Are we gonna vote now and say she can't live with me since we are not married? Sorry I don't believe in courting like 17 and counting.

I think the problem is that once you start to change the definition then your climbing a slippery slope. Meaning, if we change the definition to allow "consenting adults" to enter legal marriage then what's to stop 3 "consenting adults" from marrying. Why cannot 4 people that love eachother all be married. Why cannot someone marry their pet, I just think that once we start tampering with this definition to apease the sexual appetite of a few then we will need to continue to redefine the issue to satisfy every sexual deviant. The system works the way it is, this is nothing more than an attempt to push the gay adgenda on the American public. No one is stopping gays from entering domestic partnership or doing what they want to do in the bedroom, just keep it in your bedroom and out of mine.

Yes, the state of California has allowed domestic partnership for awhile. However, the marriage part is new (or has been argued for awhile).

Chpthril, I don't understand the part of your post about "tearing down the Separation of Church and State". From what I read, you could be saying that allowing them to marry would be bringing Church and State together? Just confused.
