So let's hear your picks for the two big games this weekend Texas vs Texas Tech and Florida vs Georgia. IMHO I think that Texas will beat Tech, although I want Tech to win and I want Georgia to beat Florida, but I think that Florida will win in a close game, as much as I hate to say it.
How about those GATOR's. I think the only thing going to keep them out of the title game is the people who pick the polls. Florida IS the best team in the country.
I must say I am sitter here watch TT play Texas, they look awesome. You can't stop them, all you can do is out score them. WOW. They look good. I can't believe they are rank 7th. This may end up a good bowl season after all.
If I made the polls .... here's my top 10 as of today. This me sitting here thinking them through seriously and ignoring records as much as possible.
1. Bama
2. Texas Tech
3. Texas *
4. OU/Florida **
5.
6. OSU (okie lite)
7. USC
8. Penn St.
9. Utah
10. TCU
*Texas barely lost and beat OU so I can't put them below OU and still consider it fair, despite how much I want to. That being said, with a win from OU over tech and they would get the bump over Texas.
** I can't quite seperate these two teams ... FL.'s GOOD but I've said all along Georgia was overrated as well as LSU... other than those two mediocre teams, their entire schedule is composed of cream puffs... so it's hard to judge. OU has the better loss, and has proven itself against two top 10 teams (using my poll above) with a last minute loss to Texas and a trouncing of TCU. OU still has 2 more top 6 teams to go on their schedule so we'll know alot about them soon enough. Lucky for all of us, the SEC has a championship game so we get to see FL. beat up on Bama and show them what a real offense is like! Hey FL.... didn't anyone tell you that the SEC doesn't know offense... you better shape up before they boot you out!
Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.
Does anyone else here think polls don't always make alot of sense... meaning they don't think them through.
For instance... say #1 and #2 play and #2 loses an away game by a point or even a field goal to #1. If your poll is accurate then #2 should have lost that game... especially when you consider that the general consensus says that home is worth 3 pts. So in that situation #2 usually ends up falling somewhere to like #8 or #9... despite the fact that they were supposed to lose anyways. If it's that close of a game then it shows they are equal teams and would prob. split half the games if you lined them up 10 times. So why not leave #2 at #2 in that situation because obviously the pollsters were right on.
Another example.... #1 OU barely lost to #6 Texas in their rivalry game this year. OU fell to #4, which is about right where they should have fallen to. But now TX just lost... and I have a feeling your going to see them fall to somewhere around 6 or 7 (We'll see for sure tomorrow)... but if that happens.... where's the consistency?
I just don't understand the punishment for losing a game your supposed to lose. Now if you get blown out like say Georgia did today... then by all means... bump em hard. But if you lose a close game to a team that's equal or supposed to beat you anyways... then why such the harsh punishment???
Then you have Penn St. Every analyst I hear says they can't hang with the majority of the top 6 or 7 teams in the country... but yet those same damn guys are voting them #3. WHY????????? If you believe that way, ignore the freaking records and vote how you truly believe they would match up!!!! Hell, Texas Tech has been 8-0 just like Penn St. but yet you have them down at 7.... someone please explain how that works? Obviously they won't be at 7 after tonight... but they should have been up there higher alot sooner at 8-0. I can't follow the line of reasoning used for this type of ranking though? It better not be that history of the program crap.... the 1950's teams aren't the guys out on the field this year, so listen up you pollsters!

Tanner, I see what your saying and I know your trying to remove "wins" from your analysis. I don't think penn state is going to drop as far as you have them from last weeks rankings.....
RANK TEAM BCS AVERAGE
1 Texas .998
2 Alabama .950 3 Penn State .926
4 Oklahoma .827
5 USC .782
6 Georgia .770
7 Texas Tech .743
8 Florida .730
9 Oklahoma State .675
10 Utah .670
11 Boise State .636
12 Ohio State .537
13 TCU .506
14 Missouri .475
15 Florida State .338
I'd also love to see you OU fans give Boise State a little credit..........lol! A rematch would be great, that was one of my top 3 BCS games of all time
LOL.... rub it in why don't you. Trust me.... we haven't forgot!
I know Penn St. won't drop... but I was giving my analysis of how I really think they SHOULD be ranked.... not what I thought the rankings will shake out at.
Last night I even heard Herbstreet say he thought FL. was the best team in the nation if you lined everyone up to play each other, but he couldn't put them #1. Well why the hell not?.... if that's how you feel.... then vote that way!!!!
