Republican Jeb Hensarling of Texas, a leading conservative, said the bill puts the country "on the slippery slope to socialism. If you lose your ability to fail, soon you will lose your ability to succeed."

Could not have said that better myself.

As bad as the damage might be from the economic slowdown, it is not as bad as the government essentially taking over. The government is trying to fight reality here. You cannot take a guy who makes 25k per year and have him pay for a 400K house. It just does not happen. Yet we have people all over the country in that exact situation. The reality is that those folks have to lose their homes, or the rest of us pay for them to keep it via taxes.
      Be excellent to one another.

That still wouldn't fix the problem............I agree with Tall though, the tax payers shouldn't be bailing out private companies that made bad business decisions

I hate to say it but I hope that this package does not make it at all. I think we need to see worst case here.

When referring to my other boats... It would be in my best interest to see the economy better than it is right now. However, I do think we need to hit bottom and know what we are up against. Congress is acting upon something that we as tax payers have no business in.

Socialism is probalby the best statement that I have heard.

Yes, the Bush Admin is pushing for the bailout but we started out down this path before the bailout a long time ago.

I agree with you. I also feel that some of the home builders have some responsibility in this since they helped push the lax standards in the mortgage industry.
