Ya ever check out some cool places on foot?

Once in a blue moon, my wife Alice and I take advantage of dealer service specials on our vehicles.

We took the Toyota Truck to Thousand Oaks Toyota for the $30 dollar special, and then put one foot in front of the other and headed North.

Alice likes my lame guided tours.

Our first stop was Gardens of the World park.
This is a really super nice park in Downtown Thousand Oaks.

Alice was floored how beautifly landscaped it is.
It's open and donated to to the public, but privately owned and maintained.

We headed North on foot once again, and I pointed out a huge stretch of adjacent commercial property.

I asked "remember the lonely couple we met at Chuys that looked like Davenport Ventroliquist (lap) puppets?

    She said "Yeah".

Well they inherited all this vast property at the bottom of the real estate boom & immediately sold it for $400K,, which mostly all went up their (and friends) nose as a white powder and poker machines in 'Vegas.

It's worth several million today, just a few years later.

They're now broke BTW and sit and wait for drunks to buy free rounds at the local bars.
Pathetic I know, but an eye opener to our kids.

Across the street is "The Cakes Only Store".
A local mom makes the most fantastic cakes you may have ever tasted.
Always has a line out the door of customers.

More money in the Cake business than you can imagine. Cakes are American like Hot Dogs and Chevys.
If it looks and tastes awesome you will get a loyal following.

Then we walked furthur North and we went in and ate Lunch at Corrigans Steak house.
Good food at a good price.

    12 Amazing Episodes

Tom Corrigan is usually there and is always a lot of fun to spar with.
"I would have been in sooner, but we had to finish watching episode #8 of the Gene Autry show, Doublecross Valley" I told him.

Episode #8 had Gail Davis in it I mentioned.
Corrigan took us up to his autographed pic of her on the wall.

Probably the most popular yet now forgotten female Western TV star.

OK,, not a BFD,, but still fun and Alice gets a kick out of my dopie takes and Corrigans dry, yet very savvy humor.

Next to it was a pic of a very young Crash Corrigan, as the first Celib endorser eating his Wheaties about 1928.
A really cool "pre-Mesquitters" pic BTW.

We walked about 8 miles total.

There are lots of downtowns that offer so much to see on foot.

Downtown Orange is awesome. Check out the old Hardware store for the awesome smell alone, and some great family diners.

Downtown Montrose on Honolulu Ave is where ya have to check out the classic old Bowling alley, and lot's of good places to eat except the Rocky Cola Tourist trap.
