Road Amor Bumpers - DO NOT BUY

Just a heads up, I'd stay away from buying these bumpers. They have a horrible warranty. A few months ago I was pulling someone out of a ditch and barely pulled when the bolts sheared through their puny brackets holding their beefy bumper. I submitted a claim, had it approved for a swap, but then they wanted $300 freight each way to ship the old bumper back first (leaving me without a rear bumper for 3-4 weeks) and then another $300 to ship a new one. I didn't have the cash at first, since I just spent $3K already on the pair of bumpers.

So now I contacted them about doing the exchange. They changed their policy and now I have to spend $300 to ship my defective bumper first, THEN they will evaluate the damage to determine the coverage. So there is a chance that I could send my bumper there ($300) and they pull some excuse for not covering it and I would have to spend another $300 to ship the same damaged bumper back!! Weak.

The bumpers are not heavy duty, they are heavy duty 'looking'. They build them out of 1/4 steel and then use these flimsy brackets to install them. On top of that they are already rusting out. Have to touch up half the bumper with black flat spray paint every month. They look mean, until you actually want to use them.

    Anyone else have any issues?

    Just venting.

Look into Alien Bumpers. The guy who owns it, USED to own Road Armor. He was bought out, and they kept him on to engineer stuff. He left shortly after, as the chinese company that bought them began to cut corners and weaken his product. He was disgusted with this practice, so he went off and started Alien in order to make the product how he believed it should be made. They look VERY similar.

He might even hook you up if you tell him your story.

I had Road Armor front and rear on my 04 GMC. Never tried to use them too much but they looked good. I did not have any rusting issues. I guess I was just lucky. I did go out and look at Alien Patrol Bumpers, http://www.alien-patrol.com/
They are a Colorado based company, with what looks like a far better product construction wise, especially on the front mounting brackets.

I had a buddy fabricate a replacement bracket to put the bumper back on. Its more of a cosmetic issue, so thats why its not worth the risk of spending $600 to have someone xnay the warranty coverage. I will definitely look into alien over road armor for any future purchases. As well as recommend them over road armor to any friends/family. Good call guys.
