    Bigger is always better

The only thing that I noticed when I scanned the pages was the Olevia supports 1080p whereas the Vizio only 1080i. And the Olevia has a higher native resolution.

They are both considered more "lower end" brands, but I have an olevia 37" in my office. Its a great TV, but the picture is DEF better on my panasonic 50" plasma. LCDs won't quite produce as good of color or blacks, unless they use the very high end lcd panels like in the apple displays, or expensive dells, which these TVs are not.

All that being said, it will still look great.

Here is a great deal, and the picture will be beautiful.

              Make sure you read this:

              http://www.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/lcdtv-plasmavslcd.shtml

Also, spending that much money, go to both of these sites:

              http://www.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/

              http://www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com/

My suggestion is to buy a TV that has been reviewed well here, these site are very helpful, and the reviews are usually right on.

Also, when you buy a TV, they configured like sh*t, with a very poor picture. They should be calibrated to the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) standards. I used to have a guy come to my house, to do this for my 65" projection TV, cost like 200$, makes a WORLD of difference. On these sites, you can find reviews, and they tell you the settings for you TV to make it ISF calibrated. Here is an example, my TV, and I don't need to pay to get calibrated. This makes a DVD look like film, absolutely gorgeous.

the weird things is I guess I can't tell a diff in a lot of different tv's. I mean I'll look at the vizio and sharp side by side and i can't tell the diff. I don't think I have an articulate eye.

Go with what you like. I could care less what anybody else thinks. I really like my DLP. You can get a 73" for $2500.

Thats not a good test, because TVs are set, to POP in just that position, but they have poor color. The true test, would be to see which of the TVs will actually be able to calibrate to ISF standard, then compare after calibrated in your nice dark viewing environment. The one thing about LCDs, is they push light, even when supposed to be black, and you don't get that true black, which makes all the difference in the world.

That is why those reviews are so helpful. They take the best TVs, they calibrate, and give you the lowdown. Its not like waterskimag review, where every manuf. gets a nice kiss on the a$$. They tell it pretty straight. If they don't review a TV, its usually because they don't consider it worth it.

At the end of the day, if you are happy, nothing else matters. But if you haven't sat in front of a good tv, that is calibrated, you are missing out. If you can't afford the ISF calibration, or don't want to, buy the DVD essentials disk. It shows you how to turn off sharpness, adjust brightness and contrast, and shows you tests that let you see what your tv can handle. You want a lot of contrast, but if your TV starts to bloom, then it will distort your picture, so using the DVD essentials will help you get the best quality picture your tv can produce.
