Anyone here REALLY familiar with motors... turbo's in particular

I got a question about a twin design... in particular external wastegate locations. Anyone know much so I could forward you on a diagram and tell me if I'm right.

There's a dude here in Tampa called Majestic Turbos, does wonders with turbos, I'd give him a call, a friend of mine built up a turbo mustang with his help, mostly free info. I've heard he is a stand-up guy, I think his name is Steve. The only number I have for them if 813-740-1666. If you decide to call him and the number is no good for some reason let me know and I will try to track him down at the track, I know he is still in the racing business. Also depending on the make of the build-up I might know someone with familiarity with it.

Well I appreciate that. Actually there's guys I can call a bit closer in the Dallas area if I want someone to do it. But we're fabbing up everything ourselves. I know I'm probably right, I just wan't to make sure I don't overspeed my small turbo on a compound setup. That's why I'm wanting someone to look at my diagram.

send it to me. I have tons of books on turbos as well as my bro and I have designed and worked on systems. What exactly are you trying to do? motor etc?

Well my main question is where to put the wastegate between the big turbo and the small turbo. I have one going from the exhaust outlet of the small turbo to the exhaust inlet of the large turbo. But I was thinking there should be one going from the compressor outlet of the larger turbo to the air inlet of the small turbo so as not to overspeed it. But generally wastegates go on the exhaust side, so this is where I'm confused.

What's your e-mail, and I'll forward it on.

              Tanner,

How you should do it and how others build dual turbos is you make the small turbo first in line with an internal wastegate. You do this so as the pressure builds it just relives to your next turbo so there is no lost efficiency.

Then you go to your second turbo and it can have either an internal or external.

              make sense?

The top turbo doesn't come w/ internal wastegates as an option ... But after some though it doesn't matter as we're using the stock VVT turbo for the top one. Since it's a VVT, it doesn't require a wastegate.... just set the programming to open up the vanes

there you go. that would work as well.

looks like you will be good to go. U could always add an external wastegate and pipe it inot the piping. Just another option.

That's exactly what I would have done. Buttttt, not needed now... other than the one I already had.

Hey ur books don't have any equations on the math for compounding boost do they? The formula I mean.

I found the formula I was looking for Dom. But thanks anyways!
