    E*Trade.....any thoughts

I'm thinking about moving my savings account to E*Trade who is offering 5.05% right now. Any thoughts about E*Trade/anyone bank with them. I thought I heard stories of E*Trade going bankrupt I could be wrong but my money would be FDIC insured if anything did happen.

Before you do... And this is what I did... Bring their offer to your current bank... They may honor the rate... Mine did last year when I threatened to leave them... I don't want to say that I have a lot of money with them but certainly most than most people so I don't know if that had anything to do with it... It can't hurt to see what they'll give you... Just my

Many times that advertised rate is paid at the end of the year. You need to be sure you aren't going to mover your money for 12 months if you want the actual advertised rate. It is almost no better than going with a money market or short term CD.
