I don't think either format is going to win. The push for readily available content will probably sneak in and make the kill.

Dammit, I just got my HD DVD player hooked up a couple of weeks ago! At least it was a gift and the $100 deal from Walmart, that is why my brother got it for me for Christmas, it was a good deal. I wonder if I will be able to pick up some HD DVD's cheap in the near future. The picture is sweet by the way on my Samsung 1080i 56" DLP TV, I have the Borne Ultimatum, Oceans 13 and Knocked up on HD DVD.

Apparently, you can choose from a few different movie packs to go with that player, free. It was a good deal. I got mine last year with my XBox 360. You're right about the picture quality. It's awesome!

I have one too, actually I also have the 360 drive. I was prepared for this. I have DVDFab software that will RIP the HDDVDs I own to a hard disk, where I will save until I can burn to bluray, or transcode to like 720p h.264 and run on my apple tv. The software to transcode, is almost ready. Maybe another month or so. But I can at least archive the movies I have for now on a big disk.

I wouldn't say it's over. It has been back and forth with "declared victories" for some time now. HDDVD needs to start advertising if they want a chance. I haven't seen a single ad hailing HD DVD as a format vs. the onslaught of BluRay sheeple ads. It's the same quality people, and BluRay is partly owned by Sony, who wants to own you, your content, and your nuts.

Traditional media will be around, but an article in the WST just yesterday showed declining traditional media sales for the first time since the 90's. Downloadable media has had ginormous increase in the same timeframe, including full length movies. I would look for it to be mainstream and kill off yet another format as soon as they figure out DRM is good for no one.

Speaking of Sony, you know it's now illegal to rip CDs you own so you can play them on your MP3 player. What is this world coming to? The music industry is out of control. I'll pay for the tunes I listen to, but I'm not paying for them multiple times, once for each place I play them.

If paramount reverses, I would say its over, I could be wrong, but I don't think so. Even if paramount stays, its going to be tough. The bottom line, is the studios want this over. They want to sell HD content, and not be fuddled in a war.

Well, it paramount goes, so would dreamworks. Well, I am glad I got the use out of my HD DVD so far.

I have one Bluray movie, Talledega Nights. I only have it becuase it came with the PS3. I think we will stick with the DVDs for now
