bestbuy has taken deception to new levels and been busted before. Don't you remember the internal website with different prices?

Nothing is good enough for monster cables. The cheapies don't make that much difference, especially if the cable is digital.

Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

Just go to newegg, and the ones by like linkdepot. Cheap, and work great. DVI, and HDMI are digital, so don't need MONSTER type cables, especially under 10ft. Analog cables, if the signal degrades slightly, you can hear it. Digital cables just transmit 1s and 0s, not waveforms. So a digital cable pretty much either works, or it don't.

Here is an article that helps explain that.

If you are using component, get good cables, if hdmi or dvi, and optical, the cheapies should be fine, I have never had an issue with the linkdepot cables at newegg.

I am pretty sure that player doesn't do the entire HD-dvd spec, or bluray, or both. I don't remember.

I remember part, I heard on a review that it won't do the menus right. One of the nice things about hddvd is the menus can overlay over the movie, so you can turn on subs, or change audio, without going out of the movie to menu. The LG combo players won't do this, and I believe there were other issues, again, don't remember all.

That may have been it, but I know it was something. They are too expensive anyway, when individual players are much cheaper.
