when i mean free range i mean that they havent gotten that way by just acorns and pecans along with a little prairie grass. and the ones that havent had supp. feed have been killed near natural supp. food sorces such as alfalfa fields, corn fields, lettuce, cotton... so on...

with the right nutirition, genetics, and AGE deer will reach that potential mark... 5.5-6.5 years of age.

Well since I moved up to Dallas 7 years ago I don’t hunt as much as I used to but my brother is an avid hunter/fisher so I thought I would post some pictures he just sent me.

This is a Nilgai he just shot a few days ago at the King Ranch. This is his third bull Nilgai he has shot. He used to be a guide there so he hunts there free of charge.

Here are a few other photos.

Ok I edited the thread so you should be able to see them now. Here are a few more.

My brother was telling me that they saw 150-170 B&C scores all day long. He has shot this Coyote at roughly 475 yards.

Yanks aren't the only ones that don't bait. I don't bait over here either except on the kiddie lease. It just isn't as much fun for me.

Can you eat that thing???? Nilgai????

Ya you can eat it, its supposedly good but I have never had it. Nilgai are antelope originally from India.

As long as I have hunted I have never heard the term "baiting", must be a Bayou thang!

That's bc the deer in Texas are so elusive and stay so scrawny if left to fend for themselves naturally, the residents there have always been baiting and refer to it as hunting!!!!!!!

LOL. Texas deer always look so funny to me, 125lbs and huge racks! Deer in northern mo, look huge in comparision, all that natural bait.

I'm kinda weird about hunting, I really only rifle hunt for does; I bow hunt for trophies! Actually i haven't spent a great deal of time in the field in a couple years.

I do want to unleash my Encore (45-70 barrel) on a hog or two though...hopefully this year.

I went this weekend and last. Carried my dogs last to try and push out a hog. I was hunting over bait this round. I am about to double the lease up there to 265 acres. I think everything is feeding at night. They are going through about 30 pounds of corn a week.
