    Nov climbing.

Yesturday was our annual climbing day. We spend a few hours in the AM collecting food (Scouting for Food) for the local food banks and then take the Troop climbing.

We are lucky to have such a great place to climb this close to the house. Crowders Mt State Park is about 20 mins away and has about 2 doz named/rated climbing routes from beginner to advance. From the parking lot to the top is about 1 mile and 750' elevation gain.

The particular wall that we like is about a 90' climb/repel. Leaves are almost always in peak also.

One of the Scouts about to "ring the bell" as we say. The goal is to tag the carabiner that the belay (safety) line is run through. For the scouts that have never climbed, it gives them something to focus on.

Awesome! Those are beautiful shots and it looks like a lot of fun! That "Aussie Style" is crazy. How many boys did you end up taking? You are doing some good things and those boys will gain confidence / self esteem and remember it their whole life.

Thanks. We had about 5 adults and 7 boys on this one. That's a good size group for a climb. Makes it easier to keep track of them so no one gets to close to the wall. Many of our leaders and boys climb on thier own so we have a real high level of experience so you only have to watch a few real close as the others already know the safety rules.

Great location! I got my climbing certification (Climb on Safety) a few years ago at summer camp. Always a good time.
